An extraordinary story has emerged involving former Lyndon Johnson aide and now PBS commentator Bill Moyers. The story was told in The Wall Street Journal by retired federal appeals judge Laurence Silberman, who reports that when he was acting attorney general under President Ford a memo written by Moyers to the FBI came to light in the press. The memo, which dated from the 1964 campaign between President Johnson and Barry Goldwater, directed FBI chief J. Edgar Hoover to investigate the Goldwater campaign for evidence of homosexual activity. It came after Johnson aide Walter Jenkins had been arrested in a Washington men's room. Silberman reports that Moyers called him and claimed that the memo was a phony planted by the CIA. Silberman says he told Moyers he would investigate the matter and, if he was right, he would exonerate him publicly. At that point, Silberman says Moyers backed off saying, "I was very young. How will I ever explain this to my children." Moyers could not be reached for comment.

Somehow that defense doesn't work for President Bush when speaking about his youthful indiscretions.
It only works for extreme left wing publc dollar using broadcast hosts.
It is interesting that his first action was to lie. He not only lied, but called someone up for the purpose of lying. Shouldn't that disqualify him from news delivery or news commentary?
If we have a problem with the outing of conservatives, then we should also have a problem with the outing of liberals. People are free to do what they want with their lives. That doesn't make it right, but that is the way it works in this country.

Moyers WAS the Government at the time. Imagine if it had been a Nixon aid who directed the FBI to investigate an opposing candidate's campaign staff... why that would be a scandal in need of numerous deep throats.
It was Moyers doing the outing. His attempt to smear the Goldwater campaign is a valid issue in view of his claim to be a 'journalist'.

If Moyers was a tit sucker, then Lyndon Johnson was a tit sucker. Might as well include them all.
You never have to investigate very far to find the character flaws in a liberal.
