Bush's Black Voter Court Shakes Democrats
BlackNews.com ^ | July 22, 2005 | Earl Ofari Hutchinson

Republican National Committee chair Ken Mehlman told the recent NAACP convention that he'd pull out all stops to woo black voters to the GOP tent. A few hundred miles away his boss was busy touting his program for jobs, minority business, and homeownership at the Indianapolis Black Expo. Bush and Mehlman got a listen at both places, and they should have. Blacks have gotten precious little in return for their blind loyalty to the Democratic Party. The black poor are more numerous. They live in crime and violence plagued neighborhoods. Their children attend miserably failing public schools. Public services in their communities are abominable.

Increased black GOP voter support will give blacks greater leverage in the Republican Party to promote their interests. That in turn will force the Democrats to fight harder for those interests. The GOP has reshaped the black agenda to challenge the agenda of black Democrats and mainstream civil rights groups.

But Bush and Mehlman's black voter onslaught has nothing to do with political altruism. The GOP is playing for national and state dominance for years to come and even the most marginal bump up in the black vote for the party in key battleground states would assure that dominance. There are slight rumblings of a shift. The Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, a Washington D.C. based black political research institute, found that between 2000 and 2004 the percent of blacks that registered Democrat dropped 11 percent. One in three young (under age 35) blacks said they were independents. The percent of blacks registered as Republican tripled. The not insignificant Republican increase and the Democratic slide among blacks have had major political consequences.

My belief is that there was some serious Klansmen who were and did destroy the culture and ensure they stayed second class citizens.

As I have posted, regularly.. the racialists all work together. They say they hate each other; but they are are working, often in cojunction, towards the same things and goals. Black, white, hispanic, asian.. scan any of their websites, and you see the same ugly rhetoric. Plus, there are links between them that NEVER seem to get much MSM attention. A-HEM.!! grr..

It aptly describes Sentor Byrd's white voting population, actually.
It's how he kept getting elected.

What is Earl's position on Jesse Jackson trying to form a coalition with Hispanics? I bet he didn't review that mess with a critical eye....

Blackwell for Governor.
If he isn't tapped by the GOP, they can kiss my ass.
I've put up with their crappy thieving legislature, Senators, and past Governors for almost two decades.
No more.
Give the voters what they want - a real Conservative, or be the first GOP organization kicked out of Ohio.

This should a letter to the editor in every news paper in the country.

Thanx, it needs to be said. I am sick and tired of DemoncRats that preach they are the party that will look out for Blacks and minorities in this country, when in fact they only wish to keep the status quo. This is a great country, but thanks to the likes of Rev's Jessie and Al, Blacks still believe we are all just prejudiced, rich white men. I certainly wish someone would tell my wife that so I could retire.

It is plastered all over the news how Black neighborhoods are in decline. All I hear from DumbocRat politicians is we need to throw more money and social programs into them. I am positive this is exactly what caused the decline in the first place. It has been going on for so long that the youth of this country think they have no other way out except to go along with this practice or break the law in order to advance in society. It has become a vicious circle that we need to break! The first step is educating people to the fact they must be responsible for themselves. It is no longer anyone else's fault but their own!

I worked as a Foreman/Superintendent in the construction industry for 30 years, and I know many youngsters just need to be shown that a strong worth ethic and a desire to better oneself is all that is needed to succeed, now or ever. I have mentored many fine young men over the years from all walks of life. I have also fired many who believed they were there in order to do me a favor, and used their minority status to threaten me and those signing their paychecks. I always found that train of thought reprehensible and sent these followers of charity to the unemployment ranks. I would like to slap the hell outa Jessie and Al for promoting such BS.

Bill Cosby is one of my hero's. I grew up on Fat Albert, and Noah building the ark, his father threatening to use the "belt". His politics and mine are very much the same. It is sad to see his own people raking him over the coals for telling the truth and steer them to the path of enlitenment.

Yes, he did. Earl is losing his grip, and his "touch."

Superb post.

I grew up on Bill Cosby's stuff too. I was just reliving an old memory from my very childhood youth: Bully in the neighborhood had managed to beat up my brothers. I was about 7, I went after him; got one good shot, and then ran like hell for home. I hid, knowing if my dad found out I was gonna get a big-time whuppin'. Anyway, later that evening, with me hiding upstairs, I hear my dad bellow my full name "first, middle, last" -- "get down here!". I knew my emminent demise awaited me downstairs. With trembling did I go downstairs. I noticed the front door was ajar. He asked me if I'd punched "name". I said, "Yes Sir, I did". He bellowed -- "get back upstairs!" And I flew upstairs, "knowing about the belt with hooks on it that would strip the flesh from my body" (lol).. And I heard the frontdoor slam.

Turns out, the boy I punched and his dad came to the front door complaining to my dad that one of "your sons broke my sons" nose. Sibling reporters told me that after I'd admitted my "sin" and gone upstairs -- My dad told the dad and his son -- "get your facts straight: My daughter broke your son's nose". And slammed the door in their faces.

For days, I awaited the "death knell"; but it never happened. My dad acted like nothing had happened at all. Wasn't even addressed. He knew and I knew, I got lucky that time. The bully just didn't figure a "girl" would be able to pounce and pound him.

Bill Cosby's stuff resonated so perfectly with my whole family -- we played the albums over and over. And laughed. All of us.

On the other matter, of LBJ's "great Society". If you study, as I have, where lots of the "great society" money went? It went INTO WHITE WOMEN GOING INTO THE BLACK COMMUNITY AND PROFERRING BIRTHCONTROL, etc. And you'll never read this EVER at a feminist website.

And if you study the white racialist websites: Sure, sure you'll hear lots about how they are "anti-abortion". Let me clue y'all in: They are not FOR abortions for WHITES; but for MINORITIES.

After a time, ya really get to see the world spin...

Actually, that's exactly what African American leaders have been promoting for 40 years. You may not like, it, but that's the sad reality. Sure, there are conservative black voters, but they are Uncle Toms to the vast majority of black voters.

The article suggests the RNC is not trying to go after the NAACP, they are going after the individual black voters.

The message is "We want you, we want you to advance and we ask what you've gotten from Democrats after 50 years".

From the article:

Bush and Mehlman aim to bury the sorry episode in Republican history when it blatantly pandered to racists and states righters, ultra conservative kooks and loonies, and hopelessly alienated black voters. Their strategy is to resurrect the part of its past in which Republicans championed black rights. The difference this time is that Republicans have radically redefined the fight for black rights. It's not for affirmative action, and more entitlement and welfare programs. It's pro-business, and homeownership, pro-Social Security privatization, and pro traditional family values. That appeals to young, upwardly mobile blacks.

The rare times that Republicans have made any real effort to attract blacks, put money into a black Republican candidate's campaign and delivered on their promise to pump more resources into health care, education, minority business, and education programs, they've dented the Democrat's lock on the black vote and even managed to win a few key state offices, most notably in Maryland and Ohio. In 2006, a slew of high profile blacks will bid for Senate and governor seats in Pennsylvania and Ohio, two perennial crucial battleground states.

The spectacular emergence of the black evangelicals as a potent political force also has been a boon to the GOP, and a nightmare for Democrats.

I agree, even if the democrats still win the black vote, Republicans will be able to break the Democrats' biggest support. We'll know for sure in the next election.

Make no mistake: I know there are mouth-breathing racists on our side. And I'll make my displeasure know about each and every one of 'em. And if any come in spittin' distance, then I'm comin' after them. Hard.

The good news is these prime examples of the waste of human skin are on the decline everywhere in America. Now if we can just convince the Black population that this is indeed the trend of American culture we could annihilate the rest of them. The problem lies in a number of blacks refusing to believe this. I have seen prejudice from both sides of this issue, with African Americans in complete denial that many of them are just as bad or worse than the hateful skinhead bastards that promote this hate.

Real change will come about when both sides acknowledge the fact that there are those who will promote racial hatred on both sides of the spectrum.
