Attack in London: The 'war' excuse

Saturday, July 23, 2005

London's worst bombing since World War II, followed Thursday by four small explosions that struck underground train stations and a bus, have prompted dire warnings to Great Britain about the war in Iraq.

By taking up arms with the United States, the logic goes, Britain has brought the bombings on itself.

But those who strap on bombs to blow up civilians don't need a war to justify their agenda. Their jihad was ingrained long before Americans or British troops ever stepped foot in Iraq.

Consider just a partial resume of modern-day terrorists' acts:

-the 1988 bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland
-the Israeli embassy bombing in Argentina in 1992
-the World Trade Center bombing in 1993
-the Riyadh military compound bombing in Saudi Arabia in 1995
-the bombing of American embassies in Tanzania and Kenya in 1998
-and the bombing of the USS Cole in 2000.

At the time of each attack there was no war -- except for the one that burned in demented minds.

And on 9/11, what "war" sent suicidal terrorists into the sky.....SNIP

What nation did the U.S. occupy then?

Today, two years after the invasion, Iraq has become a hotbed for imported insurgency and terrorism, a veritable mecca for those who seethe with hatred against America and all it represents.

And if there was no war? Those who despise the United States, its allies and all it represents have never needed a war to act upon their hatred with cold-blooded determination.

"The leaders of al-Qaeda believed that the U.S. was already at war against them through our proxies, so they decided to lure us into their desert swamp to "bleed us dry" economically, and to eventually force us out altogether, all the while expanding their own constituency on our dime. It's working."

Regardless of whether or not this is correct, and it hasn't been demonstrated to my satisfaction, or whether the result is what Scott and Al Qaeda foresee, a non response to 9/11 was not in any way a possibility.

They just bombed Sharm al Sheik in Egypt.

Egypt should get out of Iraq.
Egyptians should withdraw from Arab lands.
They brought this on themselves for what they've done to Muslims...
Yadayadayada...

Also, I note that Islamic suicide bombers in Europe are not from either Afghanistan or Iraq, the 2 countries over there that come closest to being able to be labeled as "occupied." Maybe because the inhabitants are actually grateful.

If we (the U.S.)were as evil as you sincerely believe there would be guillotines set up through out the various arab capitals by the U.S. military & they would be running around the clock.

Sorry, there is nothing to understand simply because your premise is FALSE.
Alternative fuels will never come about because LIBERAL environmentalists will insist on blocking them.
THAT is what the blockage is on those.
Until YOU understand the truth, you will always be a delusional troll.

Its that long look in the mirror they wont take. Anything but that! I cannot even get them to ask themselves why they are losing so many elections. Stolen. Thats usually the answer. Its borders on insanity at times.

But I know people change, maybe not the extremists or the crazys we encounter, but I know from my life experiences that left leaning folks do change, Ive seen it, Ive been part of it with years of conversations with people, and it takes years and years. But, we have so much more to work with now, facts are at our fingertips. Far more conservatives out there on tv and radio. its making a difference.

We have made so much progress on how Reagan is percieved now. The left utterly failed to ruin him. And they tried so hard. So with Bush today, and Lincoln had the most horrible things said about him in his day too.

So even arguing with the crazies I think is still important. they wont change, but make sure if you do argue with them that it is in a public forum where others can see or hear. Because that is where we reach others. We know the pattern, namecalling, conspiricys, etc. Let it happen. Let people hear and see the left reacts when challenged and how nuts they get.
Its to our advantage for reasonable people to see this. And that is who we can make a difference with, those reasonable people. And I know it works because Ive done it. I know several Clinton voters that have voted for Bush and Im sure its because of me.

Their Americans and we must never stop trying to reach them. And we can prevent more people falling into it.

Were winning this thing and they know it.

"Alternative fuels will never come about because LIBERAL environmentalists will insist on blocking them."

Now, that's why it's so important to bring up the subject every time you have the opportunity. The more people just give up on the whole alternative fuel concept, the less people will know about it. May be you should make this point to American farmers (who can make a living growing biodiesel crops, for instance) and your local congress man instead of liberals who supposedly know everything and will block anything that is good for the country.

Other than that, you're right.

Thanks for the link, but apparently Hank's account was suspended. There must have been a good reason for that to happen, so you might be right after all.

"As Harry Browne has pointed out, history does not begin on 9/11."

Please spare us the "blame America first" epistles, by nitwit Browne.

History didn't start with Pearl Harbor, either. But we didn't "blame America first" and redress the Jap's grievances, now did we?
