LONDON Suspect's killing by police rattles a city on edge
San Francisco Chronicile ^ | 7/23/05 | Alan Cowell, NYT

London -- At about 10 a.m. on a sunny, summery Friday morning, London crossed a once-unthinkable line in its unfolding war on terror.

In a city where most police officers do not carry guns, the shock from the shooting death of a man in a subway car was palpable. It raised questions about police firearms practices, kindled uncertainty among Muslims and deepened the anxiety of a city that looks, these days, under siege.

The police said they had trailed a man, described as South Asian in appearance, from a house in Stockwell, a hardscrabble neighborhood of South London. He was clad in bulky clothes on a warm summer's day, witnesses said. He vaulted over a turnstile and dashed onto a train, with plainclothes police officers right behind him.

The police said the man did not obey orders to stop, so the officers shouted at the passengers to get down and take cover.

The man stumbled onto a train, and a passenger, Mark Whitby, told the BBC: "I looked at his face. He looked sort of left and right, but he basically looked like a cornered rabbit, a cornered fox. He looked absolutely petrified, and then he sort of tripped, but they were hotly pursuing him."

The officers "couldn't have been any more than two or three feet behind him at this time," Whitby said, "and he half tripped and was half pushed to the floor, and the policeman nearest to me had the black automatic pistol in his left hand."

The officer with the gun "held it down to the guy and unloaded five shots into him," Whitby said.

London crossed a once-unthinkable line in its unfolding war on terror.

For the world, that line was crossed on 9/11/2001.
We're living in the Brave New World.

...kindled uncertainty among Muslims

Maybe this will make some of the 'civilized jihadists' think twice.

Oh brother, listen to this Rodney King treatment. The message to London at large: "Behave yourselves. We're on the watch."

Man oh man, what a dumbass! This is a 5 star barf article. I wonder about the uncertainty kindled in the English people after a couple of bombings, or the uncertainty and grief of those who lost loved ones in the bombings in Sharm el-Sheik.

Can't we just get along?

...kindled uncertainty among Muslims

Yeah. They are "shocked" that they were not be able to get away with it. They had gotten used to looking the other way while their imams and mullahs fomented violence in their mosques with impunity, and their bombers were able to carry out their plans unmolested.

Any criticism of the London Police is insane. The only investigation that should be done is whether a 6th shot missed. A guy on Fox news said these Mullah's need to be shot down the second they advocate violence against the innocent!

Those bad, bad London police officers should have used spitballs.

Consider the source.

There is a great on-going war being carried out against the white race by non-whites in too many places for it to be coincidental.

Your statement brands you as an imbecile.

Why not let the truth out in the open? Britain's problem, as it is in so many nations in the West, is that they have admitted into their country too many non-whites. There is a great on-going war being carried out against the white race by non-whites in too many places for it to be coincidental. Some will call me paranoid...Others will instantly scream "racist."

Well, if the shoe fits...

The only shock has come to the left wing elements and to mulims. I would bet the average Brit doesn't give two hoots about this guy being shot. I would also bet the cops thought he had a bomb on him and was going to set it off so the wasted the guy.

So let's see the score stands at:

Muslim terrorists 5 dead English innocent civilians 56 dead

I would say they have a ways to go before the Brits start getting paranoid about cops shooting haphazardly into crowds.

Do the names John Walker Lindh and "Azzam the
American" mean anything to you?

Lesson #1 on how to avoid getting shot by the police:

When a police officer tells you to stop...

You STOP!!

This illustrates, to me, where the war on terror will be won. In our hometowns, on the street, by the citizens.

We, the public, have been too complacent for too long as we depend upon Washington bureaucracies to wage our war on a macro-level. I fear that it will take one more attack, maybe two, for the public to rise up in anger, to shut down the mosques, to take matters - and justice - into their own hands.

It sickens me that Muslim fanatics walk the streets of our cities openly and brazenly WITHOUT FEAR. That has to change, and it will change, but sadly, not until many more Americans (probably New Yorkers) die after the next attack.

We will have to trample over the American Left and the MSM to get to that point, but when the dust settles we will be a much safer, saner and secure country.

In my humble opinion.

Consider the source.

Exactly right.

We have here a story from the San Francisco Chronicle by a writer from the NY Times. Both papers are suspect as far as facts go, and spin their stories to the left.

Let's get some facts from reliable sources, and find out what really happened.
