It was Gov Davis who proposed building a new $300 million death row because the current one is double the built capacity. I think we have over 600 on death row.

Here's an idea: Just execute the bastards! That'll cure the overcrowding and save the citizens a lot of dough.

Isn't it Texas who puts a five year limit on the appeal process?

I believe that we do limit appeals. Also, anyone who gets a death sentance in Texas gets an automatic appeal to the Court of Criminal Appeals, our highest criminal court. The idea here is that it will get there anyway so go ahead and get it done quickly.

Last I saw Cal puts 20+ per year on death row and we execute an average of 1.

Gotta get on with it!

Beware! Amnesty International has branded my state as "A Conveyor Belt of DEATH"!

Surely you don't want that same criticism? :)

if that's what they called you, you must be doing something right. The conveyor belt of death is the number of murders committed.

Thanks. We do execute more criminals than most countries do. But you know what? There are still idiots willing to try their luck.

I think we need to put the executions on TV. That may make some wanna-be punks think twice.

The death penalty in California is a joke. Most of these criminals spend 20 years on death row. I say execute them within 6 months of their conviction. At the very least hang them and make it available on pay per view with the proceeds going to the victim's families. If this were to occur you would see a marked decrease in these heinous crimes.

Just a side note. I believe John and Ken on 640 am stated that Avila's parents were illegal aliens.

If I was the Gov. I would make that the state motto and have it included on the new quarter.

I think before the execution, Runnion's family should be given some "alone time" for a few hours with this POS.

I will always remember this picture of her mom when they were trying to find her little girl.

:(

Lastly, I am frankly disturbed by the lack of coverage this received. You see, when this little girl was kidnapped she became everyone daughter's. We watched day in and day out while they searched to find this little girl.
I have wept many times times over this horrific tragedy. All info I got on it in the last couple of years was because I diligently sought it out.

The MSM is an abomination.
