Grow up, people make mistakes. This guy was running from the cops. They identified themselves and he kept running. They were afraid he was going to set off another bomb and took steps. This sort of think is going to happen in a terror situation like it or not and can be laid to the terrorists door, because if the attacks did not occur this event would not have happend and this Brazilian would still be alive. Blame the correct people, the muslim terrorists.
You're defending an act the British police have acknowledged was a tragedy and a mistake. You can "what if" it all day long. Doesn't change the fact he was innocent and executed by the state without arrest or trial.
As I understand it was in the low 70's. When you are used to 90+ and humidity of 90+ (which makes the heat index higher still), 70's can seem cold.
Doubt if there is a comparison between a heat wave in Britain & a "heat wave" on the equator. The humidity on the equator alone would be oppressive & extremely hot.
It's worth noting the cops were yelling at the public to get as far away as possible from the scene before they cornered and killed him. They had every reason to believe he was going to blow himself up and take everyone with him. So they jumped on him with no regard to their own safety to save others. And all the Left and the Muslim community will do is crap on them and make it easier for the next terrorist to be given leeway.

For the record. Thursday in London (the day of the failed bombings) was hot with sunshine. I didn't wear a jacket. Friday was overcast, warm enough not to wear a coat but threataning to rain so I had my coat. And I had a backpack, and I caught the tube. And to be fair to the poor sod if I was in that part of London and someone in plain clothes legged it towards me with a handgun I would also have run. This is looking like a big cock up. I have no doubt that the cop in question, given the events the day before, given his adrenline, and given the general climate of fear in the city made an instinctive judgement call. Now we all have the wonderful benefit of 20/20 hindsight that he did not have we can all see it was the wrong call. That's life. I hope it doesn't ruin his career, but I also hope he is removed from firearms duty for the rest of it!
If he was running from them and they thought he was a suicide bomber, he would only need a nanosecond to push a button on a bomb and kill alot of people. I'd blow his brains out too. Dead men don't ignite powerful bombs.
Just talked to a Brazilian friend in London. Apparently Brazilian websites are saying that the guy was an electrician working in a house in Stockwell. He lived elsewhere. Seems like the cops saw this brown guy going in and out of a suspect house with rolls of wire and a toolbox.
That's right. This is how it should be.
First: Stop. Second: Ask questions. Third: BLAMMO!! terrorist suspect detonates bomb strapped to body, killing you, your team, and 25 bystanders.

People make mistakes. Unfortunately, some mistakes are irreversible. And this is one of those times.
Gun happy cops are scattered liberally around the USA, but it is sad to see it catching on in Britian.
They might have said it was a tragedy, but have the British police said that it wasn't the proper response under the circumstances?
Is that a frequent thing in the Tube?

I recall a bystander saying how there were 20 police chasing the guy and shouting to stop and for others to get down or get out of the way. Other witnesses said lots of them had shotguns. (big "black" shotguns, and the cop who killed him had a big black handgun. It was interesting how everyone saw them and described them as big and black!).
Anyway - not sure if there would have been 20 undercover cops. And don't know if the witnesses understood them to be cops at the time or only afterwards.

I'm in Louisiana. We know heat and humidity. No way I'd be wearing a coat in 70 degree weather. But that's just me.

I know what it's like to step on my front porch and immediately have my clothes start clinging to me.
All I can tell you is my experience. The first few times they are very sensitive to the cold. I might even say 'extremely' sensitive.
I don't think its my job to know for sure why he was wearing a coat. I just tossed in some of my first hand observations.
