The Carnival Cruise Ship "Holiday" was delayed from making her scheduled run this afternoon by a Bomb Threat, local TV Station WKRG TV 5 reported on its 10 pm broadcast. After a search, the FBI pronounced the ship now 'safe' and allowed it to leave port. No mention if anyone was arrested.
Well, it could be a prank or a hoax, like the bomb threat to the Nantucket ferry last Sunday:

Yep. We can also say "stupid prank".
If you knew the security situation at the Mobile Docks, I'm not too sure I'd say prank LOL.
Hopefully that is what happened. It's just bothersome that the FBI proclaimed the ship 'now' safe, and didn't say "no devices were found" like they usually do.
I'm not saying it was a prank, I was saying it could be. I don't automatically leap to terrorism when I hear "bomb threat".
Maybe I'm jaded from all those years on duty in the barracks getting bomb threats phoned in every other night. :-)
I cannot believe they haven't tried to sink a cruise ship.
It's scary to think how easy it would be to take over a cruise ship, and sink it, with thousands on board.
All it would take is a large fast craft with a huge cache of exposives going alongside and detonating. It could even pretend to be a yacht signaling for help and pretending it is sinking. If the cruise ship comes to give aid, it detonates.
No problem, I understood what you meant. I was just saying the security is a joke.
As I remind my Marine Dad all the time, terrorists do not necessarily want the 'big' kills tho they will certainly take them if the opportunity presents itself. The idea that 'they' can reach anywhere, anyone, any time, may be enough to promote the panic that these nuts seem to feed upon.
PS. Love the Viking kitty pics. I am so sorry for your loss. The ones who have gone on wait for us. Always remember that. :)
Or...even scarier. Most Large vessels require the use of a tug (thank you Louisiana for all the knowledge) to come into and leave port. All it takes is the hi-jacking of such a vessel, and what was 'routine' becomes an 'incident'.
The only way to defeat these wacko loons is to out-think them, and that's easy. Imagine something that no decent person would do. I bet you money it's something that 'they' actually would.
The TSA is a flippin joke.
One of my best freinds got his Glock on a commercial flight. So, then again, I could easily get my laptop on a commercial flight. The TSA morons would never figure this out.
Thanks...
I'm surprised, too, that nothing has happened in, say, Iowa. New York and DC are prime targets, but most people in rural America probably think since they don't live in a big city they're safe.

I'd have to say outside of Des Moines, Iowa is safe, because no one knows about anything outside of Des Moines, and maybe Cedar Rapids.
The thing with Mobile is, we're not rural, and well, we have a large Middle Eastern student population thanks to the university.
