Good day for India, bad for nonproliferation
The Daily Times, Pakistan ^ | 25 July | Strobe Talbot

The Indians have also long claimed that the NPT unfairly grandfathered China, India’s rival and sometimes-adversary, into the nuclear club while keeping India itself out on the grounds that it had not tested a weapon when the treaty was completed. Not only does the Bush administration accept that logic — so did the Clinton administration. That was why, rather than insisting that India join the NPT as a non-nuclear-weapon state, the US has, for much of the past seven years, tried to work out a genuine compromise. Such an agreement would give India more access to technology necessary for its civilian nuclear energy programme in exchange for meaningful constraints on its weapons programme, consistent with its own declared policy of wanting to have only a “credible minimum deterrent.”

By all indications, the Bush administration last week gave up on that trade-off and granted India the privileges of a NPT member with very little in return.

It's India that started the nuclear race in South Asia, testing five nuclear devices.

Then while former Cabinet minister L.K. Advani was on the floor of Parliament boasting and bragging that they had done so and Pakistan had been proven unable to respond, his speech was interrupted by the news that Pakistan has tested six nuclear devices.

It's not good that either is in the nuclear club, but it would be worse if one were and the other not. Then they might be inclined to use them.

India has made no secret of its ambitions for hegemony over the region. One former Cabinet minister was quoted as saying that Pakistan must be absorbed into India. Anoter was quoted as saying that anyone living in Inida must either be Hindu or be subservient to Hindus.

That is the philosophy behind the mass killings of Christians and other religious minorities in India.

It's India that started the nuclear race in South Asia, testing five nuclear devices.

And Pakistan started its nuke programme from scratch, with such blazing speed that they could come up with a "nuclear bomb of their own" exactly a week after India's tests? Load your bull$h!t elsewhere.

Yeah, and India must lay bare when China has the Bomb, right? Man, what are you smoking?

Can you deny the fact that a lot more Hindus than any other community have perished in India, specifically the Kashmiri Hindus?

Yes. That is not a "fact" at all, but a piece of disinformation put out by militant Hindu fundamentalists.

The simple fact is that more than 200,000 Christians have been killed in the state of Nagaland alone, not to mention thousands of Christians elsewhere in the country. And while Christians are the targets of choice right now and have been since Christmas 1998 (check Persecuted Church of India), other minorities such as Sikhs, Muslims, and others, as well as ethnic minorities such as Assamese, Bodos, Dalits, Manipuris, Tamils, and others have been killed in the tens of thousands.

If you want the pictures of murdered Kashmiri Hindus, I can post them for you here. But to spare everyone reading this the agony of seeing mutilated bodies, I won't, unless someone else other than you requests me to do so.

I don't know much about TBP, but I feel India bashing articles are growing as US-India relations are strengthening. I wouldn't be surprised if China was paying article writers to write these India bashing articles. They have done this since World War II bashing Japan and America. Maybe India is going to be called "Imperialists" (such as accusing India for Nagaland and Manipur unrest) pretty soon by China using western journalists.

Yes, TBP, your land of Pakiland is VERY peaceful, it doesn't treat non-Muslimes as second-rate citizens, it doesn't kill a number of them each year under blasphemy laws, it doesn't have Shariah laws, it doesn't call it's nukes theIslamicBomb, it doesn't have a military dictator in charge, it doesn't share nukes to North Korea, Libya, Iran and Saudi A, it doesn't train terrorists.

btw, in case you didn't get it, I was sarcastic

Actually, TBP appears to be tiring. His post lacked punch. I expected something more venomous Snape-like from him.

Every bit of it is factual and documented by human-rights groups, by organizations such as the Punjab State Magistracy, by some of the Indain media, and by others.

Check the group Persecuted Church of India.
