""The 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' law hangs like a 'Gays Not Welcome' sign outside the Pentagon's front door," said Sharra Greer, director of law and policy for Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (SLDN)."
We can assume the SLDN prefers the Pentagon's "back door".
Nasty, nasty, deadly.
The Dutch have done it for years and are feared only less than the French.
Later (deleted) pingout.
Well, if the military gave up all standards altogher it would certainly boost recruitment. Serving in the military isn't a right, it's a privileged duty. Not everyone who wants to join is eligible.
There is no shortage of lesbians in the military.

Amen. I had one work for me ashore and was a fine sailor. No big deal if they keep it away from work. Had a womanizer work with me also, but his wife took care of him.
" Then we can have the new "Armed and Fabulous Brigade"!"
How about "Queer Eye for the G.I."?
A better idea: increase military base pay to make it more competitive with the civilian job market.
It would probably leady to snappier uniforms too.
Maybe they can do for the armed forces what they did for the Catholic church.
I find it odd that CNS did not expose this group with an innocent sounding name for what they really are, a gay activist group.
I usually don't care about my co workers intimate affairs. There have been so many stories of men and women who have proudly served in our military, and after retirement announced they were gay. A former commander in Special Ops accepted a job in April with the Library of Congress(I think), and shocked everyone when he announced his intention to begin his new job-after his military retirement-as a WOMAN. A dress and makeup wearing woman. THEY said no way, and now he is working with the ACLU to keep his job. Guess he had enough sense not to show up for work while in Special Ops with lipstick and blush on.
It works for the French. Somebody needs to post "that" picture.
not to advocate homosexuality, but what's the deal? not like it'd be allowed for them to have sex. not when there's been issues of husbands and wives not being allowed to have sex while on duty.
why not allow them in? maybe give them their own batallion.. it'd be interesting at the very least. imagine the reactions of muslims if they were charged by rainbow painted tanks, and a bunch of soldiers dressed in (colour coordinated) pink and purple camoflauge and brandishing hello kitty M-16s. it may not strike terror into their hearts, but i doubt they'd run- given their stance that all homosexuals must be destroyed.
ok, maybe that's over the top.. but it's still a hillarious mental image :)
As one that served, I can think of nothing more horrible then openly gay men in the barracks. I would never have joined up if I thought I'd have to bunk with queers.

These people just don't get it, do they?
I would support that. Keep them segregated and drop them in a grid pattern over the Afghan/Paki border, radio back if you find Osama, we'll send a MOAB your way.
