Freeper Chapita Has Passed Away
e-mail | 7/26/2005 | Razorback-bert

Posted on 07/26/2005 11:52:32 AM PDT by razorback-bert

I just received an email from Chapita sister saying he is in the hospital end stage renal failure.

He is not expected to make it through the week. I wanted to share this sad news with all his e-mail buddies. Please keep him and his family in your prayers. Thank you.

End-stage kidney disease is a complete or near complete failure of the kidneys to function to excrete wastes, concentrate urine, and regulate electrolytes. Also called End-stage renal disease (ESRD).

Causes, incidence, and risk factors Return to top

End-stage kidney disease occurs when the kidneys are no longer able to function at a level that is necessary for day to day life. It usually occurs as chronic renal failure progresses to the point where kidney function is less than 10% of baseline. At this point, the kidney function is so low that without dialysis or kidney transplantation, complications are multiple and severe, and death will occur from accumulation of fluids and waste products in the body.

In the United States, nearly 300,000 people are on long-term dialysis and more than 20,000 have a functioning transplanted kidney. The most common cause of ESRD in the US is diabetes. ESRD almost always follows chronic kidney failure, which may exist for 10 to 20 years or more before progression to ESRD.

Symptoms Return to top

Unintentional weight loss
Nausea or vomiting
General ill feeling
Fatigue
Headache
Frequent hiccups
Generalized itching
Greatly decreased urine output
No urine output
Easy bruising or bleeding
May have blood in the vomit or stools
Decreased alertness
drowsiness, somnolence, lethargy
confusion, delirium
coma
Muscle twitching or cramps
Seizures
Increased skin pigmentation
Skin may appear yellow or brown
Nail abnormalities
Decreased sensation in the hands, feet, or other areas

How sad. He's from the area where I grew up although I don't know him. My brother currently resides in LaComb. Our family had a summer home on Pearl River, ( Mississippi side, ) about 40 or so miles north of the coast. Where the house stands or stood is now in NASA's "buffer zone" where Saturn rockets were tested. He must be close to that area.

Anyway, prayers up.

Heavenly Father, we return to thank You that we can gather around one of our FReeper family in his time of need. We would ask for the miracle of restoration, O God, that Chapita would be able to enjoy again his family and friends. Thank You that You are the Great Physician ... that You are Sovereign ... that in Your hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of all mankind. Look with mercy upon him, Merciful Father ... ease any suffering ... fill Chapita's heart with the assurance of Your Presence, "for lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the age." In the Name of Jesus, we pray, Amen ...
