Calls to deport 'the voice of al-Qa'eda'

A London-based supporter of Osama bin Laden who runs a website depicting beheadings and suicide bombings in Iraq has forfeited his right to asylum in the country and should be deported, MPs said last night.
Mohammed al-Massari was shown on a BBC documentary earlier this week defending the jihadist messages placed on the Tajdeed site that he runs.

It includes a film of a suicide bomber killing three British soldiers in Iraq, the murder of American civilian contractors and a self-help guide for would-be terrorists.
Al-Massari, a Saudi academic and dissident who fled to Britain more than 10 years ago, has been given permanent residency in this country after unsuccessful attempts by the last Tory government to remove him.
After the July 7 bombings in London, Charles Clarke, the Home Secretary, said refugees who condoned violence or fomented hatred of the West would face deportation. However, there has been no move against al-Massari.
Patrick Mercer, the Tory spokesman on homeland security, said last night it was ''absolutely extraordinary'' that al-Massari could continue to support the jihadist cause without any action by the authorities.
''I see no reason whatsoever why we continue to extend this man's right to stay in the country,'' he said.
''He has got to be dealt with. In any climate his comments are inflammatory; at the moment they are extraordinarily dangerous.''
The Government has announced that it intends to bring forward new laws to forbid incitement to terrorism or glorifying and condoning terrorist acts.
Yet no British-based jihadists have been prosecuted under the Race Relations Act or the Public Order Act, which already outlaw incitement. Also, under section 59 of the Terrorism Act, it is against the law to incite a terrorist act abroad. This power has never been used either.
Andrew Dismore, Labour MP for Hendon, who has been pressing for action against jihadists for many years, said the proposed new laws might help the police and prosecutors to bring charges against some of the more vocal apologists for al-Qa'eda.
But he said: ''We do have powers and we should be a bit more imaginative in using them pending the introduction of the new laws. If we are not going to prosecute, the least we can do is remove their right to remain in the UK.''
Al-Massari helped to establish a press office for bin Laden in London in the mid-1990s and received personal thanks from bin Laden himself. He is considered by Islamist experts to be a key influence on young jihadists in Britain.
In the mid-1990s, he set up the Committee for Defence of Legitimate Rights (CDLR) which opposes the regime in Saudi Arabia.
In December 2004, he told the Seattle Times that CDLR was the "ideological voice" of al-Qa'eda, and in an interview with BBC Radio he said it was legitimate for Muslims to assassinate the Prime Minister and kill British troops.
"British soldiers are reasonable targets for Iraqis and those joining the camp of the Iraqis. [Tony Blair] is not a non-combatant. He is the commander of the army. If it is legitimate to kill him in Iraq it can be legitimate to kill him in Britain."
On Monday, the BBC broadcast an interview with al-Massari conducted by Peter Taylor for the programme The New Al-Qa'eda.
Asked about the videos on his website and the depiction of killings, al-Massari said: ''I have no problem with that because they are with the occupation forces. I think the people have the right to see it and the people who made it have the right to do it.''
Al-Massari's website has previously featured a music video fronted by a young British Muslim brandishing a gun and a Koran. The rap song praises bin Laden and the attack on the World Trade Centre in New York and sold in large quantities at mosques.
Mr Dismore referred the video to the Home Office and the police, but no action was taken.
Al-Massari said of the video: ''I thought it was an excellent attempt to use modern methods to get a message across. I do not know of any young Muslim who has not either seen or got this video.''
Al-Massari is also a key figure behind Radio al-Tajdeed, which is transmitted to the Middle East over a French satellite from studios in London.
Not only is it amazing at how many Mohammedans leaders are in the UK preaching destruction of the West...but, they're all on the dole!

Look how week we have all become, allowing such as this to operate without any action and expecting this to be openly addressed.
I understand and agree that the Government may not be able to act upon this subject as we might all wish, but during my grandfathers day it would have been addressed quickly and swiftly by group doing what needed to be done for the good of the people. A little vigilantism goes a long way on an issue such as this. Good men should not stand by as bad men act.

IMO, the whole asylum program should be scrapped. Any Brits care to comment on potential adverse consequences?
There are over a million muslims in the UK. Of course there a bad apples, just like everything else in life, but these represent on a very tiny percentage of muslims. Vast majority of muslims would love to have these hate preachers gotten rid of, they tarnish the whole islamic religion.
As for Al-Massari well were do I start, this guy apperently wants attacks on foriegn forces in iraq citing religious reasons, but guess what vast majority of attacks dont kill foreign forces they kill innocent iraqi muslims in iraq. This Massari is a hypocrit at best and is not supported by ordanary muslims but by corrupt arab governments and terrorist groups who have their own agenda's for iraqs future.
Its not secret that many militants caught in iraq testify to having the support of foreign arab governments.
Many arab governments dont want the spread of shia islam accross iraq and the middle east or they dont want a democracy spreading so they can keep their rule.
