Tancredo talk too offensive? Too bad.
World Net Daily ^ | July 23, 2005 | Radio Interview/Campbell

Posted on 07/26/2005 7:25:31 PM PDT by Kenny Bunk

Tom Tancredo, the Colorado congressman who caused an uproar with the suggestion Muslim holy sites could be taken out in response to a nuclear attack on U.S. cities, is making no apologies if people are offended by his frank talk.

"Many critics of my statements have characterized them as 'offensive,' and indeed they may have offended some," writes Tancredo in a guest commentary in the Denver Post.

"But in this battle against fundamentalist Islam, I am hardly preoccupied with political correctness, or who may or may not be offended. Indeed, al-Qaida cares little if the Western world is 'offended' by televised images of hostages beheaded in Iraq, subway bombings in London, train attacks in Madrid, or Americans jumping to their death from the Twin Towers as they collapsed."

Tancredo, who in recent months has been an outspoken critic of immigration policies allowing illegal aliens to stream across U.S. borders, says few can argue the current approach to the war on terror has deterred fundamentalists from killing Westerners, adding so-called moderate Muslims and leaders of Muslim countries have done little to crack down on extremists.

"That being the case, perhaps the civilized world must intensify its approach," Tancredo says. "Does that mean the United States should be retargeting its entire missile arsenal on Mecca today? Does it mean we ought to be sending Stealth bombers on runs over Medina? Clearly not.

"But should we take any option or target off the table, regardless of the circumstances? Absolutely not, particularly if the mere discussion of an option or target may dissuade a fundamentalist Muslim extremist from strapping on a bomb-filled backpack, or if it might encourage 'moderate' Muslims to do a better job cracking down on extremism in their ranks."

Tancredo's commentary comes in the wake of reaction to his remarks during a Florida radio discussion.

In the interview with Pat Campbell of WFLA radio, Tancredo discussed his request for a briefing from the Justice Department on information it has on plans revealed by WND this week for a nuclear attack on the U.S. by al-Qaida terrorists.

Campbell noted that just after the July 7 London bombings, former Israeli counterterrorism intelligence officer Juval Aviv predicted an attack in the U.S. within the next 90 days. Aviv believes the plan is to attack not one big city, like New York, but half-a-dozen smaller ones, including towns in the heartland.

The host asked Tancredo, "Worst case scenario, if they do have these nukes inside the border, what would our response be?"

The congressman replied: "There are things you could threaten to do before something like that happens, and then you have to do afterwards, that are quite draconian."

"Well," Tancredo continued, "what if you said something like, 'If this happens in the United States and we determine that it is the result of extremist, fundamentalist Muslims, you could take out their holy sites.'"

Campbell: "You're talking about bombing Mecca?"

Tancredo: "Yeah. What if you said, we recognize that this is the ultimate threat to the United States, therefore this is the ultimate response."

The congressman quickly added, "I don't know, I'm just throwing out some ideas, because it seems that at that point in time you would be talking about taking the most draconian measures you could imagine. Because other than that, all you could do is tighten up internally."

Tancredo's office clarified the comments, saying Tancredo was not advocating an attack on Muslim holy sites.

As WND reported, the controversial lobby group Council on American-Islamic Relations is urging the Republican Party to repudiate Tancredo's remarks.

That's funny - Japan sure fell right in line and quit messing with us in a hurry. It appears you aren't tired enough of muslims and their cowardly shit yet. A lot of us are.

BTW - they've ALREADY attacked and killed us. Screw your "global standpoint" too!

Tancredo is very good at tossing out the red meat...but that's where his talent ends.

I'll take red meat over the SPAM that's coming out of the White House these days.

Makes you wonder what our policy in the 80's was if a suitcase nuke went off in the US? I would think we would instantly send some fireworks to Moscow.

The GWB gang or BushBots will show up soon on this thread and flame anybody who may have a good word to say for either Savage or Tancredo.

I can relate a situation that occurred about ten years ago, before there were blogs and certainly FR, there was the "Great Liberty Net" on 3950 KHz AM SSB usually 10:00 Saturday nights during the Clinton scandal years. It was a group of "hams" who discussed politics. The leader, Vic Misek from Hudson NH (W1WCR) held court and they flamed Hillary and the president. It was not long after they had international followers and 48 states involved before there was a concerted effort to jam their frequency during the discussions, which of course, is illegal. There is ample evidence that during these times no effort was made by the government to rein in the jammers. There was of course some letters written and the suspect jammer would go silent but then another would fire up. The same thing would happen then another jammer would go on air. The jammers were much more powerful than the average rig and they held the high ground in the eastern mountains.

It is my belief and that of Kevin Strom (search google) that the jammers were part of the WH activity to attempt to quell outspoken opposition. I think we are seeing it now and I think it will intensify.

For whatever it's worth the left gets away with vicious, hate filled language because they use it so often and so much as part their overall tactic that it becomes exhausting to fight. Right or wrong his were only spoken words not actions. It may some day come down to fighting fire with fire, I don't know. But somehow this language doesn't bother me, maybe I've been desensitized by the Whoopie Goldberg, Howard Dean and the rest of the hate mongers of tolerance>

Justice ends when suicide attacks begin. From then on, it about deterrence through Retribution off such a large scale that future suicide attacks are not called for nor acceptable to our enemies =(Islam).

I dont know much about the HAM community, just a few periphrial things. I thought it was taboo to discuss politics on shortwave.

Listen, we are in a real war. In wars people die. It's not neat and nice but that's what happens. Do you really believe that everybody in Dresden was a soldier? How about Nagasaki or Hiroshima? "Innocent" people die. You have to make the price of continuing the war intolerable or the slime bags we're fighting will keep blowing up buses, trains and pizza parlors.

When the cost of allowing these murders to operate from their homelands begins to cost the "moderate" muslims more than they're willing to pay, they will do something about their "extremeists". Until that time I believe that the "religion of peace" is content to allow the fanatics to rule the roost. If innocent muslims have to die to prevent innocent Americans from dying so be it. They brought this upon themselves.

Another attack against the U.S. will end this debate, CAIR will any credibility it may have now and Tancredo won't have to defend his remarks anymore.

Between two or more people, one can discuss anything within the purview of decency. One cannot "broadcast" politics or anything else for that matter, especially jamming signals.

Don't get me started on Hannity He's spent the last two months championing a girl who went to a foreign country, went out with three strange men while drinking and disappeared. He has befriended her parents who allowed her to go to a foreign country with irresponsible chaperone's. I'm sure my views won't win me a popularity contest but if we didn't have video footage of her as a cheer leader and a portrait of her looking her very best and if her mother was some overweight redneck of a woman rather than the reasonably photogenic and conversant person she is this would have disappeared 7 weeks ago.

but I think it defeats the whole purpose when the number of innocent "enemy" civilians killed greatly outweighs the number of innocent American citizens killed, at least from a global standpoint.

I thank God, that we did not have this type of mental disease in WW2.

Gee, Mr. Truman, if we drop on bomb on Hiroshima and kill and injure over 100,000 INNOCENTS, without us losing one man, WHAT WILL THE GLOBAL STANDPOINT BE? And golly gee wiz, what will happen if we do it AGAIN to those poor people in Nagasaki? Oh woe is US, the world will not like that.

Hint: When you are in a fight, the object is NOT to hit the opponent as many times as he hits you. The objective is to hit the opponent 10 times harder and faster, so you can end the fight quickly and in such a way that the opponent does not come back for more.

Tancredo is right except for one thing. We can't wait to be attacked AGAIN. We need to start Nuking Islam NOW - again and again until they surrender unconditionally.

Give em 48 hours to leave Damascus then flatten it. Repeat with other terrorist sponsoring cities as needed.

You are in charge of the response. You know that al-Qaida has said that they would use nuclear weapons on the U.S., and that they intend to kill 4 million Americans to settle their grievances. What do you do?

Erasing the capital city of every one of Al-Qaeda's state sponsors would probably be a good start.
