Well, he's probably more of a barber. Afterall, can't have men cutting women's hair or women cutting men's hair. Maybe he was a poofter who didn't want wife #2 to see him holding hands with his boyfriend? But they are a religion of peace and he did prevent her from possibly marring her honor in some way.
