Orange Peels

Read:
1 Corinthians 10:1-13

Let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. —1 Corinthians 10:12

Bible In One Year: Micah 1-4

cover Back in 1911, a stuntman named Bobby Leach went over Niagara Falls in a specially designed steel drum—and lived to tell about it. Although he suffered minor injuries, he survived because he recognized the tremendous dangers involved in the feat, and he had done everything he could to protect himself from harm.

Several years later, while walking down a street in New Zealand, Bobby Leach slipped on an orange peel, fell, and badly fractured his leg. He was taken to a hospital where he died of complications from that fall. He received a greater injury walking down the street than he sustained in going over Niagara Falls. He was not prepared for danger in what he assumed to be a safe situation.

Some of the great temptations that roar around us like the rushing waters of Niagara will leave us unharmed, while a small, seemingly insignificant incident may cause our downfall. Why? We simply become careless and do not recognize the potential danger. We mistakenly think we are secure (1 Corinthians 10:12).

We must always be on guard against temptation. A victorious Christian is an alert Christian who watches out even for those little "orange peels." —Richard De Haan

Take the name of Jesus ever
As a shield from every snare;
If temptations round you gather,
Breathe that holy name in prayer. —Baxter

Whenever we fall, it is usually at the point where we think we are strong.

That's a lot of songs. I'm partial to "The Courtship Of Eddie's Father" and "Nanny & The Professor" theme songs.

My favorite is the theme song to the short-lived sitcom "Makin' It" by David Naughton.

Dance your cares away,
Worry's for another day.
Let the music play,
Down at Fraggle Rock.

Work your cares away,
Dancing's for another day.
Let the Fraggles play,
We're Gobo, Mokey, Wembley, Boober, Red.

FYI, Some of the shows are now on DVD. Just got one from NetFlix and watched it. One of my favorite kid's shows when mine was little.

I rarely ever play the Canteen music, but I hadn't heard the Davey Crockett, or the Patty Duke songs in a very very long time. Later I'll check a few others out, but I must admit, a lot of the programs listed are ones that I have never before heard of. Square pegs, Jem, Tigger???? Among others.

There were 2 TV programs which were quite short lived when I was very young.

One was Mr. Terrific, and the other was Captain Nice. The Mr Terrific song was quite funny, and I still recall almost all of the words to this day, but I have not heard the thing in at least 35 years. It was more of a poem than a song. Difficult to explain.

From the list,WKRP In Cincinnati, one of the funniest shows ever made.
I don`t know if there were ever vocals but liked the A-Team opening as well as the closing music from the Incredible Hulk as David Banner walked away into his lonely world.
The Courtship of Eddies Father, while thinking of Bill Bixby, was very nice and seemed to fit the show although I am having a hard time right now remembering the words or the basic tune.Just remember that I liked it.
