2-the post-Sept. 11 economic trough ended in time for Bush's reelection. Bush Senior lost his 1992 race because the economy rebounded too late to save him. ...12years later Junior celebrated robust growth for several months before his reelection vote.

The MSM never admitted to this before the election. It was a constant drumb beat of a sluggish economy. Do these people think we have forgetten?

Let's not forget the balanced budget amendment. Clinton was against that too and was forced to sign that too. And, then he took the credit for the deficit/national debt reductions which occurred as a result of the amendment.

This article is amazing stupid even by the standards of the WashPo.

What are they thinking?

The relationship between taxes and growth has been established since Reagan's time.

Since JFK.
But nobody is supposed to remember that.
Anybody got an earlier one?

Gee, that means you didn't get to read the part that likened President Bush to a drunk wandering across a 6-lane highway!

I can't believe a reputable newspaper would print this. Oh wait, it's the Washington ComPost!

SO glad I don't read any of these rags!

Thanks for the ping. Just read it. I agree with you: That's one pathetic column for the WaPost to run... and...That his column further confuses cause and effect, convolutes logic, and is filled with direct ad hominems just goes to show how far the press has fallen from its lost era of professionalism..

You know.. in the past.. they'd at LEAST attribute President Bush's "luck" to former President Clinton's "works". Or try to. Maybe they can't. Therefore, it is "Luck". (But not result of policies enacted by Bush Admin during his first four years 2000-2004). Yes, this is a pathetic article; it reeks of PEST syndrome.

"Did this guy ever stop to consider that Bush is reaping the fruits of good economic policy rather than repeated good luck??? How blind and stupid can you get?????"

Of course not! It's all luck that our economy just happened to have great porductivity growth and economic growth after the tax cuts that liberals think were 'reckless'.

They called Reagan "Lucky" too.

Skill, not luck.

Oh, what fun it must be to be a stupid, lefitst, commie dem-rat. Having no brains to comprehend the staggering impact of science, logic, risk-reward ratio, cause-effect relationships, and hard work, everything in their little lives is simply based on degrees of luck.

Gullible and emotional, their world randomly revolves like a pair of thrown dice. Bush is on a "hot streak" of luck to them, Bush has no more or less ability than anyone else, he is simply lucky. He was lucky to marry Laura, lucky to graduate from Harvard with an MBA, lucky to have been only defending America from the Soviets while being lucky to get awwy with missing all his commander's instructions, lucky to beat Ma Richards in the first election for governor, lucky to get reelected governor of Texas with 68% of the vote, lucky to beat AlGore, lucky that the Supreme court stopped the Florida recount that showed Bush won anyway, etc, etc.

Libs are stupid because they cannot comprehend the complex. They rely on their gullibility to lead their little miserable lives.
