AVON (AP) -- The names of all four people killed in Friday's fatal accident in Avon have now been made public.
The dump truck driver has been tentatively identified as 41-year-old Abdul Raheem Naafi, also known as Terrance Stokes, who had a Stamford address.
The chief medical examiner's office says 60-year-old Maureen Edlund of Canton and 54-year-old Barbara Bongiovanni of Torrington were killed in the wreck at the bottom of Avon mountain when the dump truck driver lost control and smashed into other vehicles.
Television and newspaper reports identified a third person who died, 42-year-old Paul "Chip" Stotler, of New Hartford, a father of five daughters.

This accident happened July 29, last Friday, and made national news. It took an unusually long time to identify the driver whose dumptruck slammed into the intersection full of commuters.

The "also known as" is troublesome.

Any evidence that "Abdul" a/k/a "Terrence" decided to go jihad with his truck? After the D.C. snipers, I get suspicious about muslims.
To: SlowBoat407
What does that even mean, "also known as"? That is not like a legal name change, is it?

...lost control... Abdul Raheem Naafi
One Mohammed Atta "lost control" of a vehicle not long ago, too.

More likely, Terrance Stokes was the name he was born with, and then converted to Islam, taking on his terrorist Muslim name.

it'll happen one day. Over a nice neighborhood picnic or pig-roast, Muhammad Al Sharif will announce he has changed his name to Albert Gore (freudian?) and that he intends to begin coming to services at the local Baptist church or something.

Let's see now, four people died, fifteen were injured, four critically and many people lost their loved ones and friends and all of you post comments about name changes,Muslims and movies but not one thought about those who have suffered. That's a sad commentary on our society. It seems as though wideawake is the only one who gets it!

Television and newspaper reports identified a third person who died, 42-year-old Paul "Chip" Stotler, of New Hartford, a father of five daughters. My husband and I were very saddened to learn of Chip's death. We didn't know him well, but his wife is an acquaintance of ours. Tragically, he leaves her behind and five beautiful little girls, along with many family members and friends.
Also, I'm fairly certain that another victim of this horrific accident was a former co-worker of mine from years ago. He has multiple injuries, but is expected to recover fully, from what I understand.
Please pray for all involved in this accident...
Thank you LurkedLongEnough for starting this thread.

The truck and the trucking company were trouble. The truck had been pulled off the road with service issues many times and the company was cited a half dozen times recently for a variety of violations. Lastly, the driver was on the job only a week. I think he had too much truck for his skill level and the hill he came down is pretty steep with a pretty good right bend at the light at the bottom.

Read post #39 and tell the family of Paul Stotler to lighten up. I only hope if you or someone you know is in a similar situation people will be more understanding and be more respectful than you have shown the victims.

The thread was about the crash nothing else. Out of respect for the victims and thier families it's reasonable and appropriate to stick to the topic. That's not asking too much. If you want to comment on something else then create another thread.
