I usually compensate for a lack of good innards in my lasagna by adding more and more and more garlic. (I've never received complaints about that yet!)

If the smell of garlic in your house goes away in less than 5 days after cooking a lasagne, you're not using enough garlic!

I shop at Whole Foods weekly, and will be trying out for my black belt in Isshinryu karate in a few months, and fence three three times a week.

I can only imagine what kind of shape you're in.

Me too. I'm in chemo for cancer and I shop at Whole Foods to get clean, fresh, wholesome healthy food to keep me strong. I am 48, 5'7",125 pounds, great muscle tone, 8% body fat, and cholesterol level, bone mass and heart rate to envy. I continue to lift weights and do cardio six days a week, and have even added light running to my regime. And I love tofu.

you won't find it in sushi in Japan .

Well, I'm just waiting for the day when the Japanese fishing industry finally admits that this whole "sushi thing" was nothing more that a bunch of fishermen who didn't catch anything, and wanted to make up a little of their lost cash be alledging that their leftover bait is actually some sort of delicasy!

Yup, one day, we're going to hear, "Ha! You eating sushi! That BAIT! We was just joking!"

There is no such thing as too much garlic.

Crush half for flavor and slice the rest for texture.

Two brands of tofu hotdogs - "Smart Dogs" or "Tofu Pups" - can be enjoyably eaten if you add enough stuff on/in the bun: salsa, chili, shredded cheese...

I particularly like saving money on bulk items. The bulky, hairy-chested manly types who mindlessly attack whole foods consumers have no idea how much money they're wasting on mass market garbage.

Nothing wrong with round.

I was referring to internet Marcinko wannabes who dare attack my svelte self. (Okay, not so svelte...one doesn't have to be sleek to either do well in either martial arts or fencing...one only has to be fast and skillful.)

Actually, I'm a bulky hairy chested guy! But having been a involved in strength training (not bodybuilding) I understand the fundamentals of good nutrition.

White flour, hydrogenated oils, refined sugars, nitrites= Bad

Fruit/veggies, whole grains, fresh meat/fish/poultry = Good

And it doesn't hurt that you can buy brown rice for 0.23 per lb!

By the way, I also found the secret to weight loss.
Don't tell anyone but if you consume less calories that you burn, you will lose weight.

My wife, who has battled her weight her entire life followed my lead and has lost 63 lbs and has kept it off for over two years. Not "dieting" but by having a diet that is just eating sensible amounts of good food. Oh, and she exercises 30 minutes a day OR 60 minutes every other day. Soething else I find most "dieters" I know and work with don't do.

Ever drive by Whole Foods and see those pasty white, sickly looking folk out front. Ewww! Pass the oreos, quick!

The funny thing is I go to Whole Foods to get my beef!
