Bush Needs to Step Up and Fire Rove (WI Op/Ed)
Madison.com ^ | August 3, 2005 | Michael Oliver-Moonbat

Posted on 08/03/2005 2:24:47 PM PDT by Diana in Wisconsin

A letter to the editor - August 3, 2005

Dear Editor:

Nearly two years ago George Bush Jr.'s top adviser, Karl "The Hatchet" Rove, outed a CIA operative by blabbing to newsman Robert Novak. It was a vintage Rove maneuver: slander, discredit, smear and out, if necessary, anyone who dared to challenge Bush about his real motives during his march to war.

And Valerie Plame's husband had done just that by telling a differing version of the Bush truth. Bush immediately told the nation that "anyone having anything to do with the outing of Plame will not be a part of this administration."

That was vintage Bush. He jumped up on his high horse and rode sanctimoniously into the limelight. Well, here we are two years later, and now that the heat is turned up on Rove, Bush is backpedaling and changing his criteria for firing by saying "anyone who broke the law" in the Plame outing will be fired. He seems to have raised the bar just enough for Rove to crawl under it.

Bush Sr. had the same problem with Rove when he was president, outing who he (Rove) viewed as enemies of the state. Bush Sr. had the good sense and integrity to fire Rove. Apparently Bush Jr. is not burdened with those same attributes.

It's a shame that our country's secret warriors on terror have to be so mistreated and endangered by the very people they serve and protect. Rove is as low of a bottom feeder as there can be, but George Junior sure is enthralled with him. I guess Rove is just a mere reflection of the character of those he serves.

We can and should do better. Much better. But as sad as that is, it is equally scary to think that after two years of investigating a handful of White House insiders to determine "who leaked," we still don't know the facts. Are these the same administration officials we signed over our rights (Patriot Act) in order for them to do the investigations to keep us safe from terrorists? Let's hope not.

Do the right thing, George, for once, and give Rove the boot.

Michael Oliver, Madison, WI

Um, Michael? The President and all of Congress are on vacation right now. But maybe if you call them, they'll re-assemble at your house for a special meeting on this? *Rolleyes*

I can't believe they're still on about this. What a non-story!

Michael,

You are an idiot. Wilson has been discredited. Plame had previously been "outed" by Wilson himself. She was not a covert operative.

Other than that, thank you for your suggestion. I'm sure the President will give it the thoughtful consideration it is due.

Oops~! Michael Oliver- Rove didn't leak her name. she also appears not to have been 'covert'

Havent you been listening? Or do you only hear what you want to hear.

Did you call for Kerry to resign when he leaked a REAL COVERT agents name? Did you take a stand on Clintoons rape allegations?

I can't believe GWB has ever used the word outing.

However, it's inside quote marks, so it must be true.

The letter writer appears to be aware of all the evidence given to the federal grand jury. It must have come to him in a vision.

"Madison's Progressive Newspaper" with special emphasis on "progressive", code word for leftist, commie, America hater.

"madison.com" for commie of course.

Will the country always be this divided? Are the commie/leftist/America haters winning? How did it get to be this way.

Why do so many people hate their own country and want to commit suicide (and take all of us with them)?

Bush immediately told the nation that "anyone having anything to do with the outing of Plame will not be a part of this administration."

Is this a BS quote?

I've never read or heard the "outing of Plame" part of the quote...the rest I have heard.

Is this guy embellishing the actual quote?

Isn't it funny how Leftists always want to give terrorists the benefit of a doubt, but have already charged, tried and convicted Karl Rove without chance of reprieve?

That sure as hell says a lot about where the Left's loyalties lie, by God.

Sept. 3, 2003 'If there is a leak out of my administration, I want to know who it is. And if the person has violated (the) law, the person will be taken care of ... If somebody did leak classified information ... we'll take the appropriate action.'  George W. Bush

Why read it and post to it? And why swear about it? FR isn't a Dictatorship. You're free to read, or better yet, NOT read whatever you'd like. There are plenty of threads I skip. In fact, the "Wal-Mart Sucks" debates are getting old...

But how are we going to stay the course if we don't know what the Moonbats "in Podunk" are up to? I consider it a public service to my fellow Freepers.

Now, go wash your mouth out with soap and give your Mom a kiss with that nice, clean mouth of yours. And if she's not near enough to kiss, at least give her a call! ;)

Nice work, finding the lesser amongst us.

We had fun with the Green Party secretary. Now this Michael Oliver dude shows up on Google, as savedbygrace noted. And he apparently lives in a reasonably tony neighbourhood with some swimming pools (google maps). I'll bet he's an earnest Alan Colmes liberal with pencil neck and a rather substantial bank account that he'll never disclose to the punters that drinks cheap beer with in the local union hall.

Regardless. His call for the elimination of Rove is worded much as a thousand others are. Nice to see that he at least gets the talking points mailed to him - he's about 3 weeks behind the msm in attempting to make something out of nothing.
