If the Minnow were to sink with Clinton aboard, he would have to use Monica as a floation device :)
er, floatation--typo made a bad joke even worse :)
Great zinger! Made my day.
I dunno...it made me genuinely laugh out loud.
"The Shootist" and "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance"--two of my all time favorite movies! Wayne couldn't have picked a better movie to end everything on than "The Shootist". It's perfect.
All the Ford/Wayne pics are the best IMHO...but if I had to narrow it down to 3 it would be, Quiet Man, Liberty Valance and The Searchers(I think my fav).....I'll check out Walmart and pick those two up, although after watching them again recently, they are not near as good as I remember them...
Happy to oblige :)
Conditions at Camp Crawford Shocking and Inhumane Inmates Complain
Danielle Crittenden Thu Aug 4,11:17 AM ETWACO, TX (AP)Prisoners of Camp Crawford complain of small cells, poor meals, constant surveillance, and disrespectfuleven disdainfultreatment from Presidential staff.
Thirty-three days in this hell-hole feels like thirty-three years, said a bitter long-time White House correspondent. Youre away from your family. Were all billeted into these crappy Waco motelsyou know, the kind they hose down with antiseptic every day and youve got one lousy blanket which is made of recycled Coke bottles or something. There are huge fights for the cells with fast Internet connections but not many have them. The networks always get those. We didnt mind the facilities in Santa Barbara or Marthas Vineyard. Even Kennebunkport was more endurable than this.
[snip]
Journalists also described the routine brutality to which theyre subjected. The most recent case was when Time magazines correspondent had to be hospitalized after press pool duty. In answer to a question intended for the president, chief aide Karl Rove held up a copy of the magazine and made sinister flushing noises. The correspondent was treated for shock at the local hospital and released later in the day.
Its clear they dont respect us or our beliefs, the correspondent said angrily, as he was led back to his cell at the Super 8. Theyre holding us here against our will, and with no charges. Where is Amnesty International?
Thank you for a wonderful thread beautifully done, several photos I have never seen before
TCM in the UK is one of the basic channels I wonder why your cable company made it a premier one in fact I think it is a free digital channel.
No they don't! But I saw a film clip on FOX which showed Scott getting the best of Moran and Scott was grinning from ear to ear. Scott was saying something about the media not wanting to report on the goods things that have happened during the President's terms - and Moran was impatient and kept interrupting, wanting Scott to go on to other things .. and Moran said something about not wanting to talk about that .. so Moran got caught doing exactly what Scott said they were doing. The smile on Scott's face was priceless!
I love the Shootist, but hate to watch it knowing it was his final film and like his character was dying of cancer....
I hate to sound like some old curmudgeon, but they sure don't make 'em like Stewart and Wayne anymore.
McQ is surprisingly good, but haven't seen Brannigan in so long I can't remember if it was good or bad.
It is a basic one in the UK as well Jonny
Hi, Snugs :)
I did see that "expose." Hilarious. I'm glad you posted it here.
Hi Jonny just back from the BBQ it was a great evening.
Thanks, snugs.
So I see that Robin Cook died suddenly. Any word on the cause? What impact do you think his death will have on British politics?
Yeah, I feel kind of the same way. But the similarities between Wayne and the character he's playing make it poignant. And the cast, James Stewart, Lauren Bacall, Richard Boone, Hugh O'Brian--it's like they were all there to say goodbye. I think "The Shootist" is my favorite Duke movie.
