It could have been written by the NAACP too.

The racism charge is definately full blown maoist thought. The author is a communist bastard to put it bluntly.

You should read the crap they print about the American Indians!

Its sickening that people in charge of anything can actually be so ignorant.

Here is a little homework for you... try to define the word 'hegemony'.

Here is how I would do it...

The white man came to America and conquered a bunch of innocent peace loving Indians who were thriving in an ancient culture...

The white man after establishing himself as superior exploited minorities such as blacks to sustain themselves in their power...

THAT is the foundation of Chinese thinking regarding America...THEY go in with these ideas taught to them all throughout school.

And that America STILL has this idea as its basis....and fundamental thinking...

While it sounds like he 'understands' he really doesn't understand at all.

Their root thinking about America and its foundations is just wrong. I have argued with people on this stuff alot... Chinese people that is...

This guy believes in Communist propaganda and thats all it really amounts to.

we must eradicate America’s unitary ideology of freedom, change America’s nationalism and conceptual framework, make them believe that there are social systems and life styles in the world that are more admirable than America’s.

Good luck.

This is a country that could never, ever feed its people, suffering from periodic famines that killed millions. Those are the "social systems and lifestyles" that prevailed in China...until, in the last 20 years, they began trading with the United States.

I think Kerry etal took lessons from this man in "how to subvert the USA". Not to be too hegamonistic, but we should eliminate them.

People come here, no one messes with them, they can make a good living...eating is no problem... but rather figuring out which restaraunt to go to is...

AND they can express themselves however they want pretty much live without reprisals...

AND they get to vote for who is in charge. Thats a REAL foreign idea for most of them...

It doesn't take long for them to figure out it ain't such a bad place.

Then they start thinking "man, if we tried this back home..."

Its kind of like going to a restaraunt and having an excellent dish... then telling your wife,"honey, you are gonna HAVE to learn how to make this stuff..."

This guy is simply trying to bring America down by telling half truths and omitting much of American and world history.

We need to put this Chinese version of 'hegemonism' right up front and center and shut their dumb asses up once and for all.

We should get our stuff together and try to get articles in every single newspaper in the USA about exactly what China means when they call us a 'hegemon'...

Once the American people figure that stuff out they certainly won't be putting up with BS talk like this guy spews...

China needs a root canal of these kinds of people.

One of the great things about the United States is that we aren't a homogenous culture at all. Heck, even here at the free republic we scream at yell at each other about ideas, people who look at the United States and see McDonalds, football and Hollywood aren't looking at how diverse the culture and ideas really are.

Fascinating article. Lots of truth to consider and the conclusion is rather mindblowing.

He wasn't talking about China but rather expressing almost amazement that America has gone from stone racism to having descendents of slaves at the highest levels of power. And that its strength was significantly augmented by the use of talent from every area of the globe. And he didn't even mention the Jews from Europe creating the A bomb.

He would be just as critical of China for its racist tendencies I have no doubt.

Interesting.

Now there is a definition for it Hegemony -- The predominant influence, as of a state, region, or group, over another or others. but the Chinese are the only ones I ever catch using the word.

There are some things in that article that make me wonder if (when) that writer starts questioning his own government. For instance, he talks about white racism then he says we're not. He talks about immigration and the desire for just about everybody to live here. He talks about our willingness to criticize ourselves (which I think means it inevitiable for him to start asking questions about Beijing.)

He seems honestly confused.

This author essentially admits defeat that opposition to the US is futile and partially the result of its non-racist nature.

You beat me to the punch... I was on the virge of posting excerpts noting how he contradicts himself...

First we are a bunch of racists....then he shows how we are promoting minorities...

Or is he saying that?

In fact I would state that he doesn't see the diversity as "America", but rather those minorities are brainwashed 'tools' of 'the man'..."America"...

I think you have missed the subtext of the article which appears to me to be "Man, how did our ideology miss so badly when it predicted the contradictions in US society would bring it down." Then he goes on to commit the ideological sin of pointing to American foreign policy which did not originate from the materialistic drive of the capitalist economy. This he tries to understand through his analysis of Nationalism and see it as "irrational."

He is crying out in this article for China's government to let go of the control of information and accept criticism from non-governmental sources. Essentially saying "America has won and we see nothing on the historical stage capable of changing that."

I didn't get that. I think he's recognizing real changes here i.e. In the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s, Martin Luther King, Jr. cited the human rights principles embodied in the U.S. Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, and proved that the principle of “all men are created equal” applied equally to white people and black people.

I think CCP is going to have a bigger problem with people like Wang than we are.

For instance, when as he considers the "heroic Vietnamese" who fought against us, he's going to eventually come across China's invasion a few years after we left along with China's support of the Khmer Rouge. That's going to cause some questioning of assumptions.
