Iran Rejects EU Nuclear Plan

Iran on Saturday rejected Europe's proposal for ending the standoff over Tehran's nuclear program, calling the package "unacceptable" and not up to Tehran's "minimum expectations."

Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi said the government would send its official rejection to the Europeans later Saturday or Sunday. READ MORE

Iran Press News reported that Ayatollah Jannati, the Director of the Guardian Council, said: "We have said, from the very beginning of the discussions with the Europeans that they're duplicitous and conmen. It was evident from the outset that these talks with these 3 Europeans would not lead anywhere..."

Here is a summary of the EU3 proposal.

Sooooooooo, what did the EU expect, co-operation?

Will now see the Euro weenies do what they do best, when in danger, when in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout. And wait for Uncle Sam leadership to bail their dismal arses out, again.

Why would Iran make a deal? Iran has absolutely no reason to make a deal. Iran has every reason to make it appear like Iran is actually negotiating; stretch out the process as long as possible, burn time until the nukes are positioned and dug in. Negotiations with the Eurinals is some degree of protection against the Israelis.

Here, Iran whines about a low ball offer and probably bribes some Eurinals, making it appear that she is negotiating. Doesn't matter.

This may be a diggerent situation for North Korea. NK doesn't have independent sources of income and may be willing to stop nukes for pay, one, because they need money for current expenses and, two, they can't afford the on-going maintenabce costs. No, unless we can destabilize Iran and change the government there, they will acquire nuclear capability and be nuked before they can use it. Should a nuke go off in the US, large portions of Iran will follow shortly.

Well, I don't think that any of us are surprised that Iran turned down this offer. But I am surprised at how FAST the proposal was rejected. Now that the new man is in charge I'm thinking that the games (with the EU3) are over.

This is the reason why Iran has to agree on the deal with E3/EU:
http://www.netiran.com/?fn=artd(3149)

"It is quite natural that if we want to bring 30 billion dollars worth of foreign investments in the country in a five year period beginning from 2005, we will have to attract at least five billion dollars worth of foreign investments on the average per year. Of the 1.6 billion dollars worth of investments approved for 2003, we had nearly 400 million dollars in investment. Accordingly permits for 4.3 billion dollars worth of investments were issued in 2004 of which only 170 million dollars was materialized. I think if this trend continues this way, we will have to issue permits for 200 billion dollars worth of investments next year so that two billion dollars of this figure can be materialized."

I wonder why they're having trouble attracting foreign investments ? Maybe it has something to do with the gov't and leadership there?
