I can't get past someone talking about the "American Occupation of Iraq." Nice to know I am not alone in this. We have not "occupied" Iraq for over 13 months now. When that word is used, my hair stands on end.

I don't know about the polls being BS, Until you realize they are "BS" everything else you believe will be skewed.
but in my circle of friends we have become against the way the war is being fought.
I'm sure this can be said for every war and conflict ever waged. Perhaps a new circle of friends would help.

Oh no these are friends from waaayyyy back and we share common beliefs and service. All of us independent thinkers. This war is going to sh$t and DC knows it they just don't know how to let go. My advice to Rummy is this:
1. Point a weapon at an American and you, your family, your goat and your dog are dead. Level the house, barn whatever.
2. Come and tell us a scumbag is in your house and we will let you live and find you a new place to live since you old one is now rubble.
3. ANY threat to US forces is meet with the harshest force possible - immediately.
4. Close the borders with Syria and Iran immediately. Of course we can't do that here so why there when soldiers are dying.
The very fact that no one can drive safely from the airport to downtown Bagdad is crazy! I would leveled a 100 yard buffer on each side of the road. If that didn't work 200 and so on until the road is safe.

I can understand why asit has been misused by the liberal media, but the reality is that an occupation is not a bad thing it just what happens after active combat operations. Sadly it also means that we'reonthe defensive when we are still involved in a war.

"Unfortunately, war is not kind, war does not value human life, and pulling back to let the big guns and big planes do the dirty work has failed again and again and again. Actually a well placed bomb or two can end a war, but we realize that bombing alone may not have the desired effect. Many Americans support the war but want us to get tougher with the enemy. I believe that the CIC has the best in the world on the job and he is allowing them to fight the war as they see fit. We don't want to lose our troops. The left says that , but we know they don't mean it, that they are just concerned with the enemys' lives

Chess is a good analogy--Iraq is the center of the board right now.

Anyone who believes what the polls say, and also thinks the President is an 'impotent lame duck' either needs a brain transplant, or some new prescriptions for stronger meds......

Iraq is the center of the board right now. If only some would learn how to read a map they would see the strategery that has gone into the global WOT.

Perhaps a little perspective is called for. I just heard NY Mayor Michael Bloomberg boasting a couple of weeks ago that, for the first time in over 20 years, New York is projected to have fewer than 500 homicides this year.

Thank you for "Perhaps a little perspective is called for"!
Each death in Afghanistan or Iraq is heartbreaking and we do mourn every single one. I attribute the low casualty and dead numbers to the amazing skill & bravery of our troops.
Some seem to think that if this administration & our fighting forces are not perfect, then they are no good at all. I think they fit more into this phrase:
"Perfection is our goal, excellence will be tolerated"
Every time someone tries to define the administration or the troops by a very few mis-steps or mis-fits, we should inquire about their job & use the same kind of perspective:
"You work in education? Why are all the teachers sexually abusing their students?"
"You're in the financial sector? You WorldCom/Enron crooks are all alike!"
"You work for the media! Listen, Jason or Dan or whatever your name is, all y'all ever do is lie, lie, lie!"
Yep, perspective is good!

What would you do?
Well one thing for sure I wouldn't roll over and act like nothing can be done.
Isolating a rogue nation didn't work with Iraq and won't work with Iran.
The French would guarantee that they were well fed and armed.
Iran only knows that American is nothing more than a paper Tiger when it comes to making threats.
America has way to many cowards posing as liberals with loud voices making inane decisions in our government.
Why do you believe a few well placed bombs on their new Nuclear operations would be meaningless.
Why would it be a meaningless demonstration of air power?
Iran with nuclear weapons can not be tolerated.
I guess for the cowardly pacifists crowd we need to enlist Jimmy Carter to go over and negotiate a North Korean style non workable treaty of non proliferation.
What I don't understand is how the liberals can say with a straight face that every one in the world hates Americans.
Then on the other hand say no to any kind of American retaliation using the excuse that it might make the world hate us.
I would be interested in hearing more about what you would propose doing to stop Iran's proliferation of armaments into Iraq.
