"He said however that he was "very worried by the path of confrontation that Iran seems to have chosen." "
Idiot. It ain't a confrontation if one side is running away.

Nothing like taking all options off the table and then saying let's negotiate.
I guess I would say the military option is off the table, providing Iran agrees to only use their nukes against Germany. Works for me.

No surprise. I observed the West German army for ten years during the Cold War. They were unionized, worthless, and would have thrown their rifles down in French fashion if the Russians had invaded. No, on second thought, they would have kept their rifles and turned them on us.

Germany, it seems, is overlooking the product of their murdering 6 million Jews - a nation called Israel.
Israel will act, I am nearly certain.

He said however that he was "very worried Jesus H. Christ in a taxi, will you just please die?
I'm ashamed that Germany is the land of my father's lineage.
Even Russia is more honest and less pusillanimous.
Absolutely contemptible.

In all fairness, he leaves wiggle room here.
I think the EU and the US have struck a good balance.
This is all heading towards a naval blockade.

If America were smart, it would form a pact with Russia to revitalize their military and attack Iran together. This may help stem the liquidation of Cold War assets (including nuclear materials) that are turning up worldwide in enemy hands. Russia, as a strong ally, may help to keep China in line.
To some degree, I believe we already have this arrangement, though we still like to mudsling to keep up appearances.

There's a switch--a German turning down military action. I guess two world wars cost them a lot their type-A personalities.

Me too. I hate their cars, their beer, their women, and their chocolate. I went to Germany in 1985 right after I graduated high school, and was stunned at the scenic beauty, especially in Bavaria.
But the people were generally worthless parasites. The only people who seemed to work were the Turks. I sensed that there was still quite a bit of Hitler-lovin' going on.
I'm in no hurry to go back.

Excuse me "Herr German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder" what military might, or moral energy, do you have to bear against Iran? "I don't think anyone is currently thinking about military action." Huh? How can you apply pressure on Iran from your safe perch in Germany?
You turned your back on the US after we covered your back for 60 years against the Soviets. We need to get the hell out of Germany, like right now.

While I'm in no hurry to advocate military action against Iran, if it's true that Iran is supplying advanced, shaped-charge explosives and training to the insurgents in Iraq that are killing young Americans, then I shed no tears for the mullahs. May they receive their virgins soon.

No, actually, I have never gotten around to reading anything by Colonel Peters, but I understand he is an outstanding writer. I did have the honor of speaking with him on the telephone when we were both stationed at Fort Hood some years ago.

One of the many things that sadden me in my final years is the collective self destruction of the European Continent by its acquisition and broad, insidious implementation of it Socialist agenda...in the guise of protection from the evils of Nationalism
IMO, the death knell of the EU as a functioning entity of governance has already been rung. However, the tragic flotsam from this naive experiment in political collectivism is testement to the incredible naivete of the political leadership responsible for this ongoing civilizational transformation.
A large measure of blame lies squarely at the feet of Gerhard Schroeder and Jacques Chirac.
