As the 9/11 Commission tries to uncover what kept intelligence agencies from preventing September 11, it has overlooked two vital factors: Jamie Gorelick and Bill Clinton. Gorelick, who has browbeaten the current administration, helped erect the walls between the FBI, CIA and local investigators that made 9/11 inevitable. However, she was merely expanding the policy Bill Clinton established with Presidential Decision Directive 24. What has been underreported is why the policy came about: to thwart investigations into the Chinese funding of Clintons re-election campaign, and the favors he bestowed on them in return.
In April, CNSNews.com staff writer Scott Wheeler reported that a senior U.S. government official and three other sources claimed that the 1995 memo written by Jamie Gorelick, who served as the Clinton Justice Departments deputy attorney general from 1994 to 1997, created "a roadblock" to the investigation of illegal Chinese donations to the Democratic National Committee. But the picture is much bigger than that. The Gorelick memo, which blocked intelligence agents from sharing information that could have halted the September 11 hijacking plot, was only the mortar in a much larger maze of bureaucratic walls whose creation Gorelick personally oversaw.

Thank you for digging up this one.

truth is still truth a year later
The 9-11 Commision was a pre-planned farce.
Thomas Kean, ex RHINO governor from N.J., was enough to give anyone with common sense a clue.
As for Jamie Gorelick ... Should the allegations of what she has done be proven true, she belongs behind bars for treason, along with hundreds of Clinton appointed people.
Thanks for the May 25, 2004 post. A blast from the past.
Once this is substantiated, then what? Is there any court in this land that will summon WJClinton and hold him accountable for his treasonous conduct. Is he royalty? Is there not a judge or an attorney in this land on this?
Thank you for posting this YaYa! I was amazed this morning when Brian Kilmeade on Fox & Friends recapped the recent Able Danger/Mohammed Atta revelations without mentioned Gorelick's wall or her position on the 9-11 Commission. One has to wonder why Gorelick raised the wall in the first place. You've certainly provided the answer. Now we just need to get the message to the rest of the world.
As we already mentioned, the Gorelick "wall."
Do you suppose anyone could connect Hillary in all of this?
The memo grew out of the Justice Department's prosecution of the 1993 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center -- the act that apparently gave Osama bin Laden the idea to try again in 2001.
"During the course of those investigations," wrote Gorelick in 1995, "significant counterintelligence information has been developed related to the activities and plans of agents of foreign powers operating in this country and overseas, including previously unknown connections between separate terrorist groups." But Gorelick wanted to make sure that the left hand didn't know what the right was doing. "We believe that it is prudent to establish a set of instructions that will clearly separate the counterintelligence investigation from the more limited, but continued, criminal investigations. These procedures, which go beyond what is legally required, will prevent any risk of creating an unwarranted appearance that FISA (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act) is being used to avoid procedural safeguards which would apply in a criminal investigation."
The problem, of course, is that the inability to share information is precisely what hampered federal agents in tracking down the 9-11 hijackers. As Attorney General Ashcroft testified, this artificial wall impeded the investigation into Zacarias Moussaoui, the so-called 20th hijacker, who was arrested prior to the 9-11 attack, as well as Khalid al-Midhar and Nawaf al-Hazmi, both of whom were identified by the CIA as suspected terrorists possibly in the United States prior to their participation in those terrible attacks. "Because of the wall, FBI Headquarters refused to allow criminal investigators who knew the most about the most recent al Qaeda attack to join in the hunt for the suspected terrorists," Ashcroft told the commission.
On Aug. 22, 1996, just a few days before the start of the Democratic National Convention, Ms. Gorelick oversaw a critical Justice Department meeting with the FBI. Immediately after this meeting, as it happened, all serious inquiry into the fate of TWA 800 came to an end.
On the next day, for instance, the FAA began to inquire whether any dog-training exercises had ever taken place on the plane that would become TWA 800. On the same day, as CNN reported, the FBI now claimed publicly for the first time that the explosive residue found along the right wing "could have been brought on the plane by a passenger and was not part of a bomb." Likewise, after the meeting, the FBI would do no more eyewitness interviews, at least not for the next two months. The Bureau only did a handful after that and all of those for the wrong reasons.
"Evidence strongly suggests it was Gorelick not the ineffectual Freeh who not only misdirected the FBI's investigation into Oklahoma City, but also the FBI investigation into TWA Flight 800. The parallels between the two cases are shocking. And in each case, the Clinton administration constrained the FBI for the same reason: to advance the re-election chances of its standard bearer. "
Although [Jayna]Davis does not document Gorelick's role in Oklahoma City, media accounts routinely describe her as the director of the Oklahoma City task force, the so-called "field commander." As Davis has told me, someone in Washington called the FBI in Oklahoma City and issued a two-word directive on its investigation into Islamic terrorism: "Kill it."
Disgusting absolutely disgusting the lack of investigative journalism by leftist MSM on serious issues. Instead all they want to do is fabricate memo's and undermine anything or anyone who doesn't side with their "Revolution". I remember hearing the screaming of FR voices over Gorelick but not a serious question by the Rather, Koppel, Jennings Cabal. You can add that POS Helen Thomas in there also and the rest of her Communist mafia friendly White House press comrades. Where the hell were they during the "Clinton" years. Our great first post modern President. Journalists? Reporters? BS!
It all fits together:
Talk about the Crime of the Century.
Don't miss this:
What an interesting article. We need to save this to our Hillary files for when/if she runs.
A year late, but maybe now, fingers crossed, the truth is coming out.
Dot connecting ping!
Fingers firmly crossed! I also think contacting our Congress and Senate to let them know we are paying attention to this may help, maybe someone will actually open their mouths.
Thanks for the link lets keep the pressure on.
Sorry to be a downer on this Clinton bashing, but it really was the Islamofacists who flew the planes. If Clinton had not been than perhaps this one might have been prevented, but another one would have happened.
This is far too speculative and wreaks of the same left-wing crap that tries to pin the blame on Bush because of memos that he saw.
Let's keep our eye on the ball in the War on Terror.
As for Clinton, he is preparing for a politically strategic heart attack and sad death somewhere immediately before the second debate between Hitlery and whoever is the GOP nominee.
The funeral will then promptly buffer his greiving wife's numbers into the home stretch.
I've been zig zagging all over the board this morning.
One thing that's disheartening.... we find these few instances and are horrified at the Clintons' et al behavior. I have to wonder if there aren't 57 other awful plots that will never be uncovered (or be uncovered too late), or if there aren't at least 3 or 4 BIG ones, like 9/11, that are still in the wings, waiting to destroy us all.
The Clintons weren't put in the White House to push papers around for 4 or 8 years, there was a reason that they were both cultivated for that job since they were college-aged. I hate to think what the real reason is. :-(
This is one I somehow missed.
It is the most complete expose on Goerlick and why Clinton hired her and why the 9/11 commission was a farce with her on it.
He and all the members of his club ARE above the law.
The new Community only has laws for us.
Bump for later copy.
I hope Rush sees this and reads it on today's show.
It is my fervent hope that this will become bill clinton's legacy.
The article from '04 and the infor about Atta and the 3 others that has come to light...stupefying!...the fact that NOTHING has happened as a result?...horrifying and demoralizing!
You just can't trust a Democrat with national security. That's gonna hurt.
The only truth in your post is that you are a downer.
Yes, we all know that islamofacists (your term) flew the planes (thanks for the enlightenment.) The issues is that 2,986 people died on Sept 11, 2001. This entire ordeal could have been prevented, except that a "wall" that was erected by Gorelick prevented the FBI access to the names of these terrorists. A quick background check in 2000 would have shown that all four were enrolled in flying schools. In fact, one instructor mentioned, in retrospect, that his two students were only interested in learning to steer the planes and they showed no compulsion on learning how land the aircrafts. I suppose thats far too much speculation for you to handle.
Presidential Decision Directive 24 is a fact, the leak of W-88 nuclear warhead technology to China is a fact, that China sold Iran missile technology, a nuclear fission reactor, advanced air-defense radar and chemical agents is a fact, and the September 11 hijackings are a fact.
My friend, learn to differentiate fact from speculation. Even your allusion to left-wing crap is nonsense. What Bush memos are you talking about? And to suggest that Bill Clinton would plan his own death to coincide with a Hillary presidential run is absolutely assinine. In any event, your inability to compile a complete sentence should allow me to speculate that I am wasting my time talking to you. Bye.
The way I understand it the creator of the wall was one of hillary's buds
I decided a long time ago, "safety" far outweighs "privacy".
As for the FBI, I would hope its assigned role has been expanded since 9-11. No longer just law enforcement, but even in that area the FBI failed us. For many reasons, Freeh's FBI leadership was disasterous. I'm not sure all the flaws have been corrected even yet, but I do think Mueller is doing an outstanding job.
"1. Protect the United States from terrorist attack.
2. Protect the United States against foreign intelligence operations and espionage.
3. Protect the United States against cyber-based attacks and high-technology crimes.
4. Combat public corruption at all levels.
5. Protect civil rights.
6. Combat transnational and national criminal organizations and enterprises.
7. Combat major white-collar crime.
8. Combat significant violent crime.
9. Support federal, state, county, municipal, and international partners.
10. Upgrade technology to successfully perform the FBI's mission."
what does "bttt" mean??
Oh I forgot to respond to you on "Clinton bashing". If there's any area where Clinton, both of them, deserve to be bashed, it's their total corruption of the FBI and the Dept of Justice.
I couldn't decide which Clinton scandal best illuminated my point, but finally decided this one would work. This CNN article is from 1997, but it involves Clinton - FBI corruption back in the first Clinton term. Oh, and who "cleared" Shapiro? That would be Janet Reno's Justice Dept.
"Internal Review Clears FBI Counsel
Justice Department finds poor judgment, but no politics in Shapiro's contacts with the White House
By Wolf Blitzer/CNN
WASHINGTON (March 28 1997) -- An internal Justice Department review has concluded that FBI general counsel Howard Shapiro made a mistake in judgment in providing sensitve information [the "sensitive information was FBI personnel files on prominent Republicans], to the [Clinton]White House, but there was no misconduct or political motivation on his part.
A 29-page report released by the Justice Department today says Shapiro "...made a very serious mistake and exhibited very poor judgment" in tipping off the White House, but "...did not engage in professional misconduct" and was "...not motivated by any alleged personal or political ambitions."
The report was compiled by the Justice Department's Office of Professional Responsibility. The deputy attorney general's office and an FBI board will now have to determine whether Shapiro should receive any discipline as a result of the findings.
At issue were a series of contacts last year between Shapiro and the White House, including a heads-up that he provided the White House with details of a congressional investigation of the White House's improper handling of FBI files.
At the time, Shapiro told the White House of a document in the possession of the House Government Reform and Oversight Committee and Whitewater independent counsel Kenneth Starr that showed former White House counsel Bernard Nussbaum saying that first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton had personally recommended the hiring of former White House security aide Craig Livingstone.
The White House, the first lady and Nussbaum later denied she had made any such recommendation. Livingstone was forced to resign after disclosure of the handling of hundreds of sensitive FBI files on former Republican officials by the Clinton White House.
The Justice Department report says Shapiro should have made certain that Starr's office had no objection about his advising the White House in advance about the document.
The contacts between Shapiro and the White House were sharply criticized by congressional Republicans and he was forced to apologize to Congress. The contacts also helped create the current climate of strained relations between the FBI and the White House.
Those strains surfaced again this week with reports that FBI Director Louis Freeh withheld information from the National Security Council on China's alleged effort to funnel campaign money into U.S. elections.
Press Secretary Mike McCurry says the White House has imposed strict new guidelines on how to handle sensitive contacts with the Justice Department and the FBI. "If the White House has a need to transact business with the Justice Department or the bureau on any sensitive matter, it is handled by the counsel's office," McCurry said. "It is handled counsel to counsel."
(PS: When Shapiro quit the FBI he went to work for Terry Lenzer, the PI who worked for the Clintons, digging up dirt on bimbos and other assorted Clinton enemies.)
It means "bump to the top", and it's usually a courtesy to others, to keep an important thread prominently displayed.
