Vanity: Any Freepers going to protest anti-war mom Cindy Sheehan in Crawford, Texas?

Posted on 08/11/2005 11:01:08 AM PDT by Buffalo Bob

I am a Houston-area Freeper and I am thinking of going to Crawford, Texas this weekend to protest the anti-war Mom Cindy Sheehan "show". It's hard to sit by and watch the Left anti-war crowd piss on the graves of our American heros who have answered their country's call to duty. Perhaps there are some among you that feel the same.

I have been looking for any posts that discuss FReeping her anti-war protest and have so far seen none. If there is already a thread on this, please let me know, otherwise this thread can serve that purpose.

I need to find the exact location in Crawford, Texas, near President Bush's ranch. If anyone wants to join me, Let's Roll!!

I think a counter protest will be counterproductive in this case. Only POSSIBLE exception is if the counter protester also has family in the Iraq war.

Perhaps some of her dead son's relatives might want to join you.

They have sent a letter DRUDGE which is posed now, check it out, if I knew how to post it I would, but I'm tech challenged, LOL.

This is an awful thing. I wouldn't go to protest her. The woman's grief has obviously affected her abilities to function and she is make a spectacle of herself and now, apparently, embarrassing her family to the point they have commented.

I think counterprotesting these people is always in order. Otherwise, people will assume that the world agrees with them! We need military families there and anyone else who can show up.

I'm not going this weekend but I'll be there the following weekend even if a single counterprotester.

I believe that something new and really newsworthy will soon knock this woman off the nightly news. The Aruba thing eventually faded. Hopefully by the end of the week all the news vans will be gone.

If it is the average anarchist crowd or pieceniks(intentional spelling), that's one thing. When it's the mom of a soldier who died in action, the dynamics of it change.

I have been looking for any posts that discuss FReeping her anti-war protest and have so far seen none.

Maybe because no one is FReeping the mother. They're supporting the troops. No one is there to speak for the troops if FReepers aren't there, if you think about it.

I agree that a counter protest may provide the media an excuse to provide more coverage than this whole sorry episode warrants

However....

It might be a good idea to show up with a bunch of Free Mumia t-shirts and signs and make sure you are in every media camera shot.

This is kind of a semantic point, but if you go to Crawford, demonstrate in support of the war and our soldiers, don't protest a grieving mom. People want to support, not oppose; to focus on the positive, not the negative.

I've always thought Reagan's genius was converting the GOP from anti-Communist to pro-Freedom, from anti-tax to pro-growth, etc. Every "negative" as reported in the liberal press was now looked upon as a positive. Buchanan in the 90s never took off because he was always angrily "against" things (immigration, gay agenda, etc.) rather than happily "for" things (security, values, etc.).

Well, i can't go this weekend, but can likely go next week at some point and would like to go. Honestly, i don't want to protest so much as I want to go and sit down with this lady and find out exactly what she is angry at and just talk to her about this. But i doubt I will get anywhere with that so in all likelyhood i would love to protest her.

The left just grabbed her when she was still in shock. They have no shame, and this mother should just go home. DU sounds more like they're celebrating the death of her son like the Welstone Funerally.

Read that the radio stationed bailed, no reason for everyone to bail out and support our troops

Wow!! From Drudge.....

In response to questions regarding the Cindy Sheehan/Crawford Texas issue: Sheehan Family Statement:

The Sheehan Family lost our beloved Casey in the Iraq War and we have been silently, respectfully grieving. We do not agree with the political motivations and publicity tactics of Cindy Sheehan. She now appears to be promoting her own personal agenda and notoriety at the the expense of her son's good name and reputation. The rest of the Sheehan Family supports the troops, our country, and our President, silently, with prayer and respect.

Sincerely,

Casey Sheehan's grandparents, aunts, uncles and numerous cousins.

I agree Dan.
This woman should be able to say what she wants to whoever wants to hear it.
She's in a purple rage right now and is the latest shining star of the MSM that is going to bring Bush down (i.e. Michael Moore, Joe Wilson, etc.).
She'll be asking in month or sooner where all of her friends are.
She's a pawn, too far out in front of protection, plain and simple, she'll be off the board very soon because she doesn't have a clue how the cruel game is really played.

Does anyone know where his dad is? "The Sheehan family" would be the dad's side of the family, I assume.
