I bet you are exactly right. I don't believe firms register as, "I'm mob related", and I imagine there are plenty of 'legitament-looking firms' that have connections to the mob. The last 3 GOP statewide campaigns in NY where a GOPer has been endorsed by the Conservative Party and has been pro-life, they have received 47% of the vote or higher.
So who were these candidates and what percentage of the vote did they get? And I assume you must not be counting George W. Bush on your list, since that pro-life, Conservative Party endorsed GOPer got significantly less than 47% of the statewide vote in both of his elections.

our state elections here run 1998, 2002, 2006. US Senate races as you stagger. This election will be in 2006, no presidential election.

Oh in 2004 the pro-abortion Howard Mills ran against Chuck Schumer, didn't get the conservative party line and received 22% of the vote. Now he wasn't likely to win for a varitey of reasons, but he couldn't even carry the GOP/Cons base. THe conservative party put up their own hapless candidate and the voters of NY who migh have been open to voting GOP went with Schumer. Better to go with the liberal you know than the liberal you don't
