MOSCOW. Aug 11 (Interfax) - Twenty-nine militants were eliminated and nearly 1,000 wanted criminals were apprehended in a police operation across seven regions of southern Russia this summer, head of the Interior Ministry Forces' press service Col. Vasily Panchenkov told Interfax on Thursday.
"Twenty-nine militants were killed during armed resistance to arrest. The police detained 961 wanted criminals, 58 border trespassers and 87 foreigners who broke registration rules. Nine hostages were released," he said.
The anti-terrorist operation was held in Dagestan, Ingushetia, North Ossetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachayevo-Cherkessia, Chechnya and the Stavropol territory.
"Interior Ministry Forces commander Col. Gen. Nikolai Rogozhkin supervised the operation, which involved over 30,000 police officers and servicemen of the Interior Ministry Forces. More than 1,000 trucks and armored personnel carriers were used in the operation," Panchenkov said.
How fortunate for the Russians that they aren't cursed with the RCLU, who would demand lengthy tax-payer funded RCLU lawyers to bring interminable appeals for prisoners in four-star prison facilities.
Oh they scream and occassionally even win: Putin, against the demands of the Duma, banned executions.
