One Hit Wonders
(Voter Thread)

Welcome To The Canteen Music Dedication!!
In our continued effort to bring music themes that you want, we continue this week with our Canteen voted thread of One Hit Wonders!

This list was compiled from various sources. Some of you may disagree with an artist showing up in our One Hit Wonders list, but that's okay. We're not here to state that we are the authority on such matters. We're here to enjoy some music from popular artist (although, not popular for long) of their respective music eras.

There are many artists/songs that are considered One Hit Wonders. However, we don't have all day and night to list them. We've gotta sleep now and again! Hehehe!

We enjoy feedback. If you have requests, please ping laurenmarlowe on the thread or via FReepmail.

As always, we greatly appreciate the opportunity to entertain our Troops, Veterans, and their family members.

Enjoy!

Hi Blackie,
It's been awful. Stuck inside. It's to humid to be out and about.

How are you? :)

We have low humidity out here, it'll be in 90's today; a good day for a shirt sleeve motorcycle ride. :)

We have central air conditioning and it's perfect inside and not so bad outside, on the deck, in the shade.

I'm usually not a fan of "Best Of" compilations, however I'll make an exception in the case of The Smithereens. Their "One Hit Wonder" status is arguable. If you like the band, this is the album to have in your collection.

BraveMan approved!

Nice to see you Blackie :)!!
A motorcycle ride sounds great! 90 is still to hot but when it's not humid it can be tolerated better. I just can't function in this humidity. I'm a gardener and have not been working in the yard for well over a week. I'm happy to see our temps will be going down next week. I'm hoping that includes the humidity.

We are going to BBQ today and will be grilling outside but staying inside. ;)

We barbecue steaks at least once a week, sometimes twice ~ year around, rain or shine. it's my favorite meal: medium rare fillet mignon and a big tossed green salad. :)

Oh yeah - I remember after the second album came out, that tune got some regular airplay for about six months to a year before disappearing like "Ball & Chain" did. On broadcast radio when they cue up Aldo Nova any more it's always just "Fantasy" and never anything else, as if that's the only song they ever did.

...........with apologies to anyone I may have left out......

Even though I admit I don't make all the Canteen music threads, this one strikes me as the most outstanding one I've clicked on to date. The quantity, variety and participation was simply outstanding this weekend! The DeeJays and others who piled on really took it to new heights. I know it takes some work to do this and make it happen, so job well done, and thank you all!

"Lucy in Disguise" was what a lot of listeners mistook the lyrics for and they sang it at the top of their lungs.

lol.

i would presume then that John Fred & the Play Boys "ripped off" the Beatles song & made a "tidy little pile" off them????

fwiw, at the concert i mentioned, the band played their one song about 20 times!

YETCH!

That's capitalism, jumping on winners' coattails, and I thought it was funny. But playing the same song 20 times in a row at a concert is horrible!

You read right. Anchorage has been really warm for the past week, upper 70s, but the clouds came in yesterday and the temps didn't make it to 60. At this very moment it looks like rain...which I hope happens. ((HUGS))
