How were they better off?

They did not have Fundamentalist terrorists running through their streets killing innocent men , women and children. They had electricity, fuel and jobs .

When this new "democracy" comes into being the women will be chattel property with few if any rights.

The people of Iraq were better off with Saddam than they will be under this "new democracy".

Rubbish.

And just so you'll know -- and I'll know that you know -- the reason Bush 41 didn't "go on to Baghdad" is because he didn't have a UN mandate to do that.

You unappeasables should at least try to work in a FEW facts into your diatribes.

Robin Wright is a mullah groupie. Never met an Iranian Islamofascist with a pretty smile she couldn't find a way to love and praise.

The Kemalists in Turkey are brutal (much like Saddam was) in holding Islam at bay. Attaturk new that Islam was virulent and he and his successor have rule with an iron fist.

``We set out to establish a democracy, but we're slowly realizing we will have some form of Islamic republic,'' said another US official familiar with policymaking from the beginning.

Hmmm Washington Post, un-named sources, US official familiar with policymaking. Could be another disgruntled State Dept. holdover from x42's administration. Unless someone goes ON RECORD saying something like this, I won't take too much stock in it. Could be someone trying to stir things up to make it look worse than it is.

You're a really sickening excuse for a conservative. You'd rather the people of Iraq go on licking Saddam's boots than have a chance of liberty, all so you didn't have to feel even a moment's remorse or guilt for those who died in liberating them.

The people of Iraq were better off with Saddam than they will be under this "new democracy".

Tell that to the Kurds. I believe that there will be some sort of 'blend', but the people of Iraq won't stand for a system like there exists in Iran. Heck, the people in Iran are looking for a change themselves.

And don't forget the NYT editorial to Clinton: "eliminate any capacity to make WMD, and export the blessings of democracy".

These are "neo-cons", and Bush "advisers"?

DEM Sen Bob Graham CHAIRMAN of the Sen intell committee, says there is "some evidence" that Saddam was involved, evidence that is "credible enough that you can't take Iraq off the list".

Time mag, Sept 24, 2001, special 9/11 edition, page 43.

For those who don't know, Brigadier's favorite website is LewRockwell. It's on his homepage. I guess that pretty much says all we need to know about him.

And he links to Joe Sobran, the Jewhater, and oddly, the Marx Brothers, all Jewish...

Isn't that always the way? They don't like Jews, but they go to Jewish doctors. :)

Perhaps but we weren't. Saddam was openly harboring terrorist leaders and supporting terrorists with money.

The ONLY threat that Saddam was, was to Bush Sr that he hated.

Today the country is overwhelmed with terrorists that are MOTIVATED by our presence in the mid east.

It is more a Terrorists training ground now than ever before. WE gave them motivation.

Because of that war more money is pouring into the coffers than ever.

I have heard they do not know if "elections' in Afghanistan can be held as planned because of all the NEW foreign terrorists flooding in there.

Bush has opened a Pandora's box, and try as he may I do not think he will be able to stuff it all back in. We are now between a rock and hard place, staying is a catastrophe and leaving would be unthinkable because of what we will leave behind. So now we threaten Iran with the military option. Unbelievable !

It is more "guided leaks" that they used before the war, now that a constitution is being written, they are preparing their talking points for FAILURE.

Andrea Mitchell did the same thing last nite, using a State dept source saying that Iraq will not BE LIKE THE US constitution.

Therefore it's a failure.

Bastards.

You know why parents try to tell little children to stay away from matches? Because in their blissful ignorance, little children can cause a lot of damage and really hurt themselves.

You should stay away from a keyboard.

No matter what facts are presented to the liberal mind regarding terrorism, Saddam, Islam, etc......they just don't get it. It's like showing color scheme swatches to a blind person.

I hope there will be fewer chippers and shredders in this new incarnation.

Yeah, Saddam's rape rooms were nothing compared to this.

Yea well he could only rape one woman at a time. (if it was ever even true)

Under Islamic law women can be beat and raped and murdered by their husbands as THEIR property. Given that as a woman I would rather take my chances with a secular government .
