Casey Died, Mom Lies
Sweetness & Light ^ | August 17, 2005

Posted on 08/17/2005 4:00:45 AM PDT by Sam Hill

Grief activist Cindy Sheehan has huddled with her advisors and PR firm (Soros front Fenton Communications) and has finally come up with a spin on her anti-Semitic letter to Ted Koppel at Nightline. --It was doctored.

(I take a special interest in this issue, since I am the person who dug up her letter, which was buried in an obscure usenet group, bullyard, comprised of only 16--now 17--members.)

Photo

Here's Cindy's latest version from the website of the odious toad, Michael Moore:

"Another “big deal” today was the lie that I had said that Casey died for Israel. I never said that, I never wrote that. I had supposedly said it in a letter that I wrote to Ted Koppel’s producer in March. I wrote the letter because I was upset at the way Ted treated me when I appeared at a Nightline Town Hall meeting in January right after the inauguration. I felt that Ted had totally disrespected me. I wrote the letter to Ted Bettag and cc’d a copy to the person who gave me Ted’s address. I believe he changed the email and sent it out to capitalize on my new found notoriety by promoting his own agenda. Enough about that."

http://tinyurl.com/3x9vw

Let's give Mother Sheehan the benefit of the doubt and presume she's been driven mad by the Texas heat on top of her grief. Because the letter was posted on usenet on March 18, 2005. At that time nobody, including Tony Tersh who posted it, had ever heard of Cindy Sheehan.

Cindy,

Skeeter asked me to send ou[t] your letter to Nightline.  I did already and believe you got a copy, as below.  I added your name to the bull yard list, along with Judge P on the stuff I send out.  John Hibbs wrote how to sign up for bullyard even without ever sending it  anything.  He is back and may write you again.  I notice he wrote you with great sympathy.  He, along with you and about three others in the Band, I would really love to meet personally.  I, like Skeeter who sends me about 10 emails (mostly cartoons) may be sending TOO much, as I think I tend to do.

Keep up your good efforts, and have a good weekend.  I hope to learn more about you: where you live, your family, work etc.  Time will tell.

Tony

http://tinyurl.com/8jcbw

Notice that Tony sent her a copy of the letter he posted--for her approval. There is no record of Cindy complaining about it having been edited. In fact, she and Tony have continued there correspondence ever since. In fact, Cindy sent Tony numerous emails about her public appearances and asked him to promote her website.

Unfortunately for Cindy, there are plenty of other proofs of her anti-Semitism still extant on the internet::

"[My son] was killed for a neo-con agenda that only benefits a very chosen few in this world. This agenda and their war machine will chew up and spit out as many of our children as they can unless we stop them now.

We should not let Israel/USA invade Syria or Iran."

http://tinyurl.com/avwer

"You get America out of Iraq and Israel out of Palestine and you'll stop the terrorism."

http://electroniciraq.net/news/printer2098.shtml

There is even this, to her cyber buddy Tony Tersch, written weeks after she says he posted the doctored letter:

From: SCINDY...@aol.com
Sent: Saturday, April 30, 2005 9:35 PM
Subject: Re: WMDs - still there, hidden, taken to Syria etc etc

Could my son be dead because of an evil-neo con Pax Americana agenda?

Wake up dude. This government has always been in the business of killing people.

Peace in our time,
Cindy Sheehan

http://tinyurl.com/da45a

We also know Cindy likes to hang out with well known anti-Semites, like the director of Crawford Peace House, discussed below. Here she is featured with a couple of others who seem to believe Jews are at the root of all of our troubles:

cindysheehandsm2.jpg

Ray McGovern, a former CIA agent (R), places a photo of the son of Cindy Sheehan, founder of Gold Star Families for American Peace(C) on the table as Ambassador Joseph Wilson looks on during an unofficial forum on the Downing Street Minutes on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC June 16, 2005. The document, created in 2002 for British Prime Minister Tony Blair said that United States President George W. Bush was intent on invading Iraq and that intelligence was being manipulated to support Bushs interests. Sheehan's son, Army Specialist Casey Sheehan was killed in Iraq. (REUTERS/Chris Kleponis)

Former CIA officer and now fulltime anti-American, Ray McGovern, even caused the Washington Post to recoil at his anti-Semitism exhibited at the John Conyers show trial:

The session took an awkward turn when witness Ray McGovern, a former intelligence analyst, declared that the United States went to war in Iraq for oil, Israel and military bases craved by administration "neocons" so "the United States and Israel could dominate that part of the world." He said that Israel should not be considered an ally and that Bush was doing the bidding of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. "Israel is not allowed to be brought up in polite conversation," McGovern said. "The last time I did this, the previous director of Central Intelligence called me anti-Semitic.

Your tag line is so accurate.
It amazes me that American Jews as a voting group are strongly dem yet any dem I know and I suspect most have a visceral hatred for Israel.
I think a lot has to do with Israels resolve and determination to survive, something appeasement oriented libs find appalling.

Cindy has gone the route of the Hollywood left thinking that the attention a fawning anti-Bush media has shown her means her opinions are correct and should be taken seriously.
Even though they agree, her puppet masters know that her anti Israel statements will doom her.
With dems it is always some angle to try to play, war hero running for President, grieving mother, can`t criticize her. When they show themselves without the cover story, nothing but ugliness exists.
Cindy is on her way to being old news and I suspect her fragile mind will implode when the spotlight is taken away.

Cindy Sheehan is a traitor. That her son died in Iraq is irrelevant. IF this was 1943, she would have been detained long ago and no one would have heard from her again until after the war.

~~ Cindy Shee-Haw ~~
World-class anti-Semite

WILLIAM JOYCE alias LORD HAW-HAW

His wartime broadcasts to England became infamous – he was nicknamed 'Lord Haw-Haw' by a Daily Express journalist because of his aristocratic nasal drawl.

he still remained the number one broadcaster in Berlin and his anti-semitism never faded in its virulence – continuing to blame the war on "Jewish International Finance."

I am trying very hard to not be callous when it comes to this mother's grief. I can only imagine the pain she is going through. But her actions, in my opinion, have become political rather than personal and in so doing she and her libtard cronies are figuratively pissing on the graves of ever soldier killed over there. She is also stirring up the libtards into an anti-war frenzy that is ultimately putting more soldiers at risk.

Rant off.

1) Casey Sheehan, God rest his soul, was a VOLUNTEER, in the one government organization that has done more good for the people of this world that all of the limousine liberals combined. He gave the last full measure of devotion so that an oppressed people could have a future and would be terrorists would be punished, and she is desecrating his sacrifice and his memory.
2) Mrs. Sheehan is totally ignorant of what truly transpires over here. Sadam had links to Al Queda ( check out a ruling form Judge Harold Bear (sp?) in a civil suit in which he said that there was sufficient evidence linking Sadam to Ossama), two, even though we haven't capture Bin Laden we have severely crippled his organization, three, check out Salmon Pak, and four, we put a tremendous amount of resources and effort into civil military operations (CMO) here. These CMO include schools, hospitals and sanitation.
3) She insinuates that we are indiscriminately killing Innocent civilians and esacerbating their suffering. This is so lefties and incorrect as to be slanderous to the US service member. While some civilian casualties happen we are the only military that spends billions in smart weapons and training in a effort to mitigate the casualties. Even the way the warheads are shaped are designed to minimize the collateral blast. Unfortunately, the insurgents do not share our concern.
Everybody shouts "Free Speech" but the last time I checked, slander was not protected.
This woman should grieve quietly and leave the rest of us in peace.

Now, I'm as weary of Sheehan's vigil as the next man - but, in all seriousness, charges of anti-Semitism seem to be totally baseless (although I haven't seen the original letter being referenced here).

Suggesting that the US decision to go to war with Iraq was influenced by Israel doesn't qualify as anti-semitism - nor does the suggestion that Islamic terrorists are motivated in part by the Israel-Palestinian issue.

Sheehan's stance is problematic enough to provide more than enough grounds for objection. Reaching for the anti-Semite tag is just unnecessary.

If not another outright lie, at least one more "changed story":

"My divorce was in the works way before I came out to Crawford. My husband filed the papers before this all started."

Unless she has a new definition of "filed" - the divorce petition was signed August 8, 2005 and FILED August 12, 2005:

Reaching for the anti-Semite tag is just unnecessary.

The mere fact that some people take longer to notice Anti-Semitism, doesn't mean that the people who are quicker to notice the Anti-Semitism are wrong.

For example, the Brits during WWII took a while to catch onto Lord Haw-Haw.

Although it was illegal to listen to his broadcasts in Britain they became very popular with British listeners. ... During his heyday Joyce had almost as many listeners as the BBC – and he caused alarm with his tales of a Fifth Column in Britain and his talks on how to treat bombing wounds. He caused panic with his apparently accurate descriptions of Town Hall clocks that had stopped and how many steps there were in a particular church steeple.

After the Battle of Britain and the invasion of Russia, Joyce's broadcasts lost more and more listeners in Britain – but he still remained the number one broadcaster in Berlin and his anti-semitism never faded in its virulence – continuing to blame the war on "Jewish International Finance." For his efforts Joyce continued to live a comfortable life in Berlin and in September 1944 was awarded the Cross of War Merit 1st Class with a certificate signed by Adolf Hitler. As the war worsened he began to drink heavily and his marriage became a joke with both his wife and he having numerous affairs.

Yup! Narcissists very seldom cry real tears. A narcissist has a limited range of real emotions. To a narcissist emotions are simply a tool to control other people, or as a weapon to demean people who might be a threat to their self-imagined status and/or control.

In and of themselves, no they do not overtly suggest antisemitism. However, they are the foundation upon which anti semitism is built. Suggesting that our support for Israel is one of reasons we face Islamofacist terror may sound logical to us, just as Hitlers charges that the Jewish people and their financial practices may have been the cause of pre 1939 Germany's economic woes did to the Germans, but both are baseless and factually incorrect. Claiming that Israel's influence prodded us into a costly and unpopular war is also another step taken to invalidate our support for the Jewish nation state, and it too, is factually incorrect.
These baseless accusations are what used to be known as propaganda, which has often led to blatant antisemitism.

"In and of themselves, no they do not overtly suggest antisemitism. However, they are the foundation upon which anti semitism is built."

Only if you believe that they are necessarily false and are merely a screen behind which to hide anti-Semitic prejudice.

It's quite possible that Sheehan believes them to be true - and that her belief is based on reasons other than a hatred of Jews. You can't accuse her of anti-Semitism on this basis. Nor can you condemn someone for making statements that MIGHT be a cover for anti-Semitic sentiment. The logical conclusion of that is that no criticism of Israel (or of Jewish people anywhere) is permissible.

Like I said, Sheehan is open to criticism on so many other grounds that it's just not worth opening up this can of worms.

After pondering your wisdom I have to agree with you on most points.
You cannot directly criticize nor condemn Ms. Sheehan on the grounds of being antisemitic. Furthermore, throwing the antisemitism card is the equivalent of throwing the racism or sexism card and obfuscates a legitimate issue.
However, I must add a caveat to that. We are responsible for the words we use and shoulder some of the responsibility for their effects (re.Newsweek)and while Ms. Sheehan may not be antisemitic, there are antisemitic groups who will take her words and run with them. Furthermore, one thing that I have become painfully aware of over the past year is that their are certain cultures, of whom certain members have a vested interest in this conflict in Iraq, to whom the word means more than the deed, and will use this issue to spread their own antisemitism.
