Transcript of Christopher Hitchens on subject of Cindy Sheehan from Wed. night's Hardball
MSNBC's "Hardball" ^

Posted on 08/18/2005 10:18:15 AM PDT by Charlesj

O‘DONNELL: I‘m sure also the president did not anticipate that while he was spending a five-week vacation at his ranch in Crawford, Texas, that he would be witnessing a mom, Cindy Sheehan, who has been camped outside his ranch now, demanding a meeting with the president, saying she won‘t leave until that happens.

Christopher, do you think that this represents—or she represents some sort of tipping point in public opinion in America?

HITCHENS: Certainly not. She has, just today, lied about a statement that she made several times before to the effect that her son was killed in a war run by a secret Jewish cabal within the administration. She now says she didn‘t make that statement. She did make that statement. So as well as being an hysterical paranoid ideologist, or at least being manipulated by people who are, turned this into camp fruitbag and nutbag, she has decided not to have the courage or maybe the cowardice of her conviction. She now says she didn‘t make a statement that she definitely did.

I've noticed on about each and every occasion The Old Media mentions her 'meeting the President', but never 'meet with again' or 'meet for a second time'

It's interesting how the media have given Sheehan a pass from the normal scrutiny directed towards public figures. If Sheehan had been some rabid conservative camped out at Clinton's summer home, the MSM would have been looking into - and publicizing - her past and present political affiliations, her financial connections, her handlers, her inconsistencies, her lying, and her numerous outrageous public comments about the president and about our country. But the MSM is pretty much looking the other way, and it's people like Hitchens and Drudge who have to raise these issues.

Hitchens needn't get so emotional. He's the only one on the tube expressing common sense on the subject of Cindy Sheehan.

Her and Fineman seemed to grudgingly agree with Hitchens.

They just tried to laugh it off though.

Here's alive idiot!!!!

The direct quote isn't hard to find if you really are interested in reading it. But DU trolls like yourself will never look because that's how you approach facts. You and your DU comrades ignore facts, but serious people who care about this country and our military takie the time to learn the facts.

To do that you have to leave the moveon.org/DU/michealmoron/Al Jazzeria websites because all they are is propaganda

Some Israel references of Sheehan:

"Yes, he was killed for lies and for a PNAC Neo-Con agenda to benefit Israel. My son joined the Army to protect America, not Israel."

http://groups-beta.google.com/group/bullyard/msg/7f523b1a73be1a36?hl=en

"[My son] was killed for a neo-con agenda that only benefits a very chosen few in this world. This agenda and their war machine will chew up and spit out as many of our children as they can unless we stop them now.

We should not let Israel/USA invade Syria or Iran."

http://www.mothersagainstthedraft.org/forum/archive/index.php/t-210.html

"The other thing I want him to tell me is 'just what was the noble cause Casey died for?' Was it freedom and democracy? Bull---t! He died for oil. He died to make your friends richer. He died to expand American imperialism in the Middle East. We're not freer here, thanks to your PATRIOT Act. Iraq is not free. You get America out of Iraq and Israel out of Palestine and you'll stop the terrorism,"

"And yet he remains unable to produce a direct quote. Perhaps he'd locate one if it got between him and a gin & tonic."

Hey troll, here's your quote from Dementia Queen Sheehan. Sounds to me like she's claiming the Jews are to blame:

Am I emotional? Yes, my first born was murdered. Am I angry? Yes, he was killed for lies and for a PNAC Neo-Con agenda to benefit Israel. My son joined the Army to protect America, not Israel.

And yet if Hitchens had been, say, Molly Ivins, and had said, "Church experts who have asked to remain anonymous agree, Catholic or not Sheehan should be sainted", O'Donnell would have been nodding her head like a bobble-head doll.

ABC did not retreat, in fact they confirmed that this letter was signed by Sheehan and sent to them on her behalf.

They have asked Anderson Cooper of CNN retract his statements and apologize

"I think our profession should stop acting as her megaphone. Until I published her real political opinions in Slate yesterday, she had to answer no more questions than, how does it feel? OK? I object. I shouldn‘t have had to do that.

I said, this woman is mouthing the most sinister piffle from Michael Moore and David Duke. She should be held responsible for what she thinks. When she was asked about it finally by Anderson Cooper yesterday, she said, I didn‘t say it. She‘s also a liar."

How dare Hitchens challenge St. Cindy's views? Doesn't he know she has "absolute moral authority" to say what she wants and no one else is allowed to say anything about it?

Fineman says that the ground is shifting under Bush's feet re. Iraq. Ok Howard, but we know that the opinion polls are rigged (grossly oversurveying dems) and that Cindy is a liar and, well, just a mouth piece for the same ole groups with the same ole messages.

I think, Howard, you will find that if the ground is shifting anywhere, it is under the feet of Ms. Sheehan and her mouthpieces.

Howard, the anti-war schtick has rarely brought any party to power.

I really like Hitchins.

Back to the days when he was the regular socialist guest on Crossfire (1985-1986), he has always been entertaining and razor-sharp with his vocabulary.

I disagree with him on a lot of things, but on the WOT he has been the finest and most eloquent spokesman in the media. By far.

Oh, and he just ripped little Miss Seditious Moonbat Puppet a new one.

I'm listening to Rush at the moment. He says someone called in to tell him that he stayed overnight in a Crawford motel and Cindy Sheehan was staying in the room below him. So much for the vigil. She said some days ago that she moved to the Peace House because there were fire ants in her tent, but if anyone remembers those hippy cribs from the 60s there are very few people who can stay in places like that.
