Obama's numebrs are truly impressive. And he's even been out there saying semi-controversial things.

Yikes! Not looking good for Martinez of Florida, DeWine of Ohio, Coburn of Oklahoma, or Santorum of Pennselvania.
I don't get the third column. Net approval? What in the hell is that?

i think this just shows you how much trouble the GOP is in Ohio...
FR aside, Voinovich and DeWhiner aren't thought of bad in Ohio. Especially Voinovich because he wasn't as horrible a GOV as Bubba Bob Taft has been.
The current leadership of the GOP in Ohio leaves A LOT to be desired....

The only people with negative approval ratings are Republicans; Santorum(PA), Martinez(FL), and I can't remember the other one - sorry.

Obama's numebrs are truly impressive. And he's even been out there saying semi-controversial things.
He's trouble waiting to happen. He's a dangerous nut.

I am not very impressed with this survey. They surveyed 600 ADULTS. I bet a great deal of approval depends on name recognition. About a month ago I heard that Bryd (D) West Virginia had a pretty low approval rating amongst registered voters, but here his rating is in the 60's. Santorum's numbers are troubling though.

I think these numbers should be broken down into a few categories : job protection and immigration control.
I bet the final numbers would look quite different from the two sides if you really break down the issues. With the Dems scoring high on job protection, and the Reps scoring higher on immigration control.
With the way I figure it is scored currently, the Dems will have a higher overall rating over the Reps because they score so much better on protecting American jobs.
But for a Conservative, immigration control would be a bigger issue than job protections. So this poll to me doesn`t mean too much.
They way I look at it, immigration control has a direct effect on job protection in this country. So the Dems having a poor record on immigration control offset their record on protecting American workers, but that will not show up in these ratings from what I can tell.

Voinavich and DeWhiner aren't thought of bad in Ohio.
How did they vote on the bill to increase the border patrol?
To: RWR8189
The four negatives are Republicans (positive single digits are about 50/50), and the three with 50% more approval than disapproval are Democrats. All in all, plenty of low approval ratings, it will be interesting to see what kind of upheaval there is in 2006.

Things get scary when you see that as many as 43% of VT Republicans approve and as few as 48% disapprove of Leahy.
And it's scary when you see that ME Democrats approve of Snowe and Collins in higher proportions (82 and 78%) than do ME Republicans (70 and 70%). In fact, it's scary in itself that ME Republicans approve in such numbers of these two.
And it's scary when you see that 52% of NY Republicans approve of Schumer.
Lots of scary stuff to be found when you start clicking on those names.

Certainly you are entitled to your beliefs, but I'll stand by my statement. It is an absolute fact that any criticism of a black by anyone other then a black is immediately met with charges of racism. Blacks will mostly tolerate any behavior from their own, like OJ Simpson and that druggie in CA that got all that money after claiming police brutality when it turns out he started the fight and the jury never saw the beginning of the incriminating video tape.

I wouldn't read too much into approval ratings becuase i've observed over the years that its democrats who've always had higher approval ratings over the years when there doing an okay job versus republicans not becuase their message has broader appeal but because of the nature of republicans and democrats. I've found that most democrat voters tend to be far more partisan than their republican counterparts and will almost NEVER approve of a republican doing a good job because they cant bring themselves do it and as such most republicans have a lower approval rating(with the rinos being the exception), however republican voters on the other hand, i find at least, will admit when somones doing a semi decnet job and will approve of their job. As long as their not doing something egregious and dumb they tend to vote to approve of them hence alot of these democrats having high approval ratings such as Barack Obama. However when it comes time to vote on election day just because you approved of someone doesn't mean you'll vote for them and these numbers tend to be artificially inflated for the democrats. Sure some of these democrats have high approval but come election day they will always have trouble and thats the only 'approval' rating that matters. Take here in california, if i was called i'd probably approve of DiFi's job but not babs because imo DiFi isnt doing as egregious a job as babs is and is doing an alright job so therefore i'd be inclined to approve, whereas your average democrat could never admit it because to them republicans cant do a good job. But just because i'd approve of DiFi's job doesnt mean i'd vote for her , i'll always vote for her Republican challenger.
Don't take some of these democrats extrordinarily high approval numbers to really mean anything, i personally just take em with a grain of salt.

"DEMS protect jobs?"
If you look at voting records, it could be argued they do. The Dems have been more pro-union then the Republicans, you cannot deny that.
But that does not mean they are free-marketers.
I thought this thread was a NUMBERS USA survey, which is a site that specifically focuses on immigration and job protections. Then I seen it was a Survey USA survey, which blew my whole post.
I am sitting here in some pain because of a bad back, you have to cut me some slack today. : )

One thing pops out when you look at these approval&disapproval figures. The numbers validate a simple fact of political life. The US Senate is far from being a conservative legislative body.
Here is a list, albeit a very short list, of Senators who garnered a 100% from the American Conservative Union in 2004 and their approval rating per SurveyUSA.
Jim Bunning 48%
Conrad Burns 48%
John Cornyn 43%
James Inhofe 48%
Jon Kyl 49%
John Sununu 49%
Craig Thomas 60%
Interesting.
