Liberals First, Americans Second: San Francisco No Longer Supports the U.S. Military
Human Events Online ^ | August 22, 2005 | Mac Johnson

Liberals often lamented, during the election of 2004, that the presence of war gave a natural advantage to Republicans. For some unknown reason, most Americans do not trust Liberals to run a war, or treat the military well, or even put America’s international interests above pet social causes.

The anti-war left responded to this belief with a set of standard talking points: Liberals oppose the war, but they support the troops. They hate the President’s policies, but they respect and honor the military and their sacrifice.

Somebody, however, forgot to send the memo to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, which last month stunned veterans groups, local businesses and even Diane Feinstein when it voted 8-3 to banish the USS Iowa from San Francisco Bay.

The historic World War II battleship, namesake of the Iowa class, carried President Roosevelt home from the 1943 Tehran meeting with Stalin and Churchill, fought in the Pacific (including at Truk, the Marshall Islands, and the Battle of the Philippine Sea), was Admiral Halsey’s flagship at the Japanese surrender, and later fought in the Korean War.

It was destined to become a floating museum at. . .

The Onion ran an article a month or two ago, Area Man Supports the War, but Opposes the Troops.

By God's grace and the U.S. Navy I left California 20 yrs ago and never been happier. No a proud citizen of a TRULY progressive state of Virginia. We execute terrorists, have ccw permits, and ask for documentation for driver's licenses.

Now if I can just have a radar detector in my car......

San Francisco has a long, proud history with the Navy, and this is just another slap in the face by the idiots on the SF city Council. They had one of the morons on the radio this morning, babbling about it, it just disgusts me.

I swear, a hundred years from now, this current generation of liberals in charge will beknown as the Temper Tantrum Generation - they make all their decisions based on their childish and selfish idealism.

According to the article the Iowa will be relocated in Stockton. This will be San Fransisco's loss and deservedly so.

A display of remarkably poor judgment, intermixed with anti-Bush rhetoric and general hissy fit.

The denizens of SF seem not to realize that to side against Bush is to put them in de facto alliance with the fanatic Islamic jihadists (not necessarily limited to just factions of al-Qaeda). But the history of these bearded men with burning eyes, is that they have no mercy even for other Muslims, whose fervor may be less fiery. In fact, Muslims as a whole have suffered much more grievously from the actions of these self-styled "Warriors of Allah", than ever was visited upon them by anybody who may be defined as an "infidel".

So what makes San Franciscians possibly subscribe to the notion that to display adamant hostility toward Bush and all his works, will somehow earn them special dispensation with the militant jihadists, when again they mount an attack (or try to) on Great Satan America?

San Franciscians are in as much danger (perhaps more) from this international terrorism, as anyone in the whole of the United States. George W. Bush is standing ready to do something about the situation. Even if he is a Republican.

As with the settlers in Gaza, it may be time to relocate San Franciscans.

...any BB sailors here? Any way to get BB-61 up the Mississipi to its home state or is the draft she takes just too great?

I live in SF and am appalled watching the antics of idiots who, because of district elections, often get elected by a mere 4000 people each. There are 11 stupervisors in a city of around 770,000. All overpaid.

Local Republicans are always missing in action when it comes to getting out an opposing view. They've apparently never heard of press conferences or press releases. It's like living under a commie dictatorship. The 'Rat groups run this city and nobody gets elected unless they approve.

Providing free health care and housing for illegals and bums is the main occupation in this "sanctuary city." Besides driving businesses out of course...

They believe Unconditional Love conquers all.

And if you get in their way, they'll have you beaten until you see reason. ;)

The really sad part about this is that San Freak-Sicko was once a great Navy town before the degenerates took total control over the city.

Liberals say they support the troops and insist no one question their patriotism. Their protestations of caring about our national security is belied by their conduct. World War II was a war with near universal backing among the Greatest Generation. Why wouldn't San Francisco want to honor those who fought in it? Its incidents like this that call into question the Democrats being trusted to protect our future. It turns out they're not just the Party Of 9/10; heck they're the party of pre-World War II isolationists. FDR must be spinning in his grave.

The Israeli Army is evacuating the remaining Jews from Gaza and turning the territory over to another power, the Palestinians. The United States Army should evacuate the remaining Americans from San Francisco and turn it over to another power, such as France or Germany.
