"Schroeder a candidate for the peace award because of his strong opposition to the US-led war against Iraq."

By this criteria, Osama would also qualify.

Why don't they just give one to the Axis of Weasels as a whole?

Powell's sucessful negotiation of peace after 25 year civil war in Sudan is a remarkable achievement that has gotten little attention.

Sadly, the prize is mostly political and, as such, virtually meaningless.

They ought to rename it the "Jimmuth Carter Anti-American B.S. Terrorist supporting" Award.

Alfed Nobel is spinning in his grave. This is not what he intended the prize to become.

Chirac and Shroeder could have prevented the Iraq war by forcing their good friend Saddam into complying with the UN inspections. Instead, they played anti-American games. May they rot in hell.

I wonder if Herr Shroeder is being nominated for the purpose of helping him win an election he is almost certain to lose next month.

Naaaaah, I'm sure that the Nobel Prize would never be used as such a transparent political tool like that. /sarcasm
