"At that point, she said, Sexton flipped out what appeared to be a wallet, showing something silver but unidentifiable to her, and saying that he was a state police officer. Ciardiello said she told him she didn't do anything wrong and got into her SUV, moving her hand toward the button that locked the doors.

"Before she could lock the vehicle, Sexton reached toward her and pulled her out of the driver's seat, Ciardiello said. He pushed her against the side of the SUV, she said."

If all this is true, including this detail, it's just ludicrous. What's the deal of pulling her out of the car?

And I wasn't clear on how the dog got out and ran off to get hit. Police taking her out then losing her?

"This is the kind of bovine excrement that happens when you try to give cops the authority to enforce all sorts of ninny nanny-state crap like leaving dogs in cars for ten minutes.

"Next they'll be brutally beating smokers."

Exactly my knee-jerk reaction. And we've been having many of these "dogs-in-cars" discussions the last month.

I stand by it, Squantos. I've maintained the same view for a long time. It's nothing new, and a lot of policemen will certainly agree. Police academies are always on the lookout for various profiles to weed out.

I think you'd better read my comment again slowly.

In this day in age, the least interaction that you have with the police as a private citizen, the better. That's good free legal advice. A lot of policemen will certainly agree with that as well.

To me, it's still clear this dude was way out of bounds. Indeed, that story clears up some things I was cloudy on.

Dirty Harry had good judgement - he never killed off any1 who didn't deserve it, did he?

This is just a wacko w/a power trip and really bad judgement.

Kansas needs to check on the whereabouts of their famous dogcatcher, one BTK. Or maybe, they're all alike.

So this "police officer" is a bureaucrat from DYFS? I'd say this is even more clear than it was yesterday. He's a violent criminal who will never be prosecuted. This couple will likely spend their life savings in pursuit of justice, and wind up with a criminal record, having committed no crime. Welcome to New Jersey.

"Welcome to New Jersey."

I will never move to a s***hole kleptocracy like that. Generations of Democratic Party rule comes to roost. The Sopranos ain't all fiction.
