I just spoke with SoldiersPrayingMom and Jim Robinson on the caravan about 100 miles out of Yuma. Jim reports the weather is about 108º outside but nice and cool inside his van. Jim reports they are making good time and are on schedule.
Several more vehicles have joined the caravan along the way and they have been well received at all stops. Protesters are always there being obnoxious.
After a good conversation with Jim, he handed me back to SoldiersPrayingMom.
As many of you know, SoldiersPrayingMom (Ruth) is the mother of freeper jmpmst4u2 (Greg), a US soldier working with the Iraqi Wolf Brigade, who has been allowing us share in his "Greg's letters home" by allowing me to post them on FreeRepublic. Jmpmst4u2 has had some remarkable experiences in Iraq.
Yesterday, his mother was meeting up with the "You Don't Speak for Me, Cindy" caravan in Sacramento to ride down to Fresno to join Jim Parkinson for the rest of the tour, when her husband said "Hey, Ruth, that guy over there looks a lot like Greg!" He was right... because it WAS Greg, home for a 14 day leave!
Ruth was in a quandary. Here was her son home to spend some time with his family, and she was on her way to confront Cindy Sheehan in Crawford, TX. After hugs and lots of weeping, she told Greg of her quandary. He said "Mom, I want you to go. I need you to go. The guys over there in Iraq need you to go."
"It was," she said, "the hardest decision I have ever made."
When asked by Marine Moms' Deborah Johns "Why are you here... your son is home for a visit." Ruth replied "I have my orders from my sergeant... I have to go!"
Greg was the man quoted in the AP article on the caravan who confronted the protesters in Sacramento, telling them "You are ruining the morale over there!" (Incidentally, his Mom and Jim did not know about the article... I got to tell them.;^)> )
Ruth reported that she and Deborah Johns were interviewed by this morning in Los Angeles.
Thanks for doing this, Jim. Are they stopping in Yuma for dinner?
Oh man. FRmail
Well we are going to be there:
Anyone I missed can ping in.
AWESOME STORY! God Bless Greg, his Mom, Marine's Mom and her sergeant!
(chew with your mouth closed this time, K?)
LOL ............ I'm gonna be working with Jim to focus on the advertisers we want to invite in ... should be good .. ;)
Thanks for the info :-)
I gotta buddy in Cali that owes me a favor so don't make me have him come over there and visit you.
That titanium hip is bionic!!
Oh oh. Want for me to warn the Titanium CB that you're on the way?
We don't live here anymore.
No forwarding address. Sorry. So sorry.
Keep us posted, and I will keep praying for this caravan and that its mission be accomplished.
A leftie, are ya?
Her son is a HERO!
Her son is a hero. She is a anti-american, terrorist loving POS, who is doing her best to piss on her sons grave. Don't like the truth, too bad.
