Spit on a soldier, I have zero sympathy for 'em. You may even see a hippie or two picking up the remainder of their teeth from the street.....that is, if they are able to walk afterwards.

If you ever see a soldier being targeted, and you do nothing to stop it, then yes, I will call you a coward.

Political protests must always be civil and obey the laws.

Do you understand the difference?

Do you?

The GIs know they are targets, Humble. They do their best to avoid the Pink-Os like the plague. The few times I've ever seen GIs confronted by Code Pink, the GIs have behaved admirably and honorably.

Though it makes it all worthwhile when a wounded soldier walks, wheelchairs or drives and parks across Georgia Avenue to talk with us. The mutual Handshakes and "Thank You"s always manage to recharge our batteries.

Though Code Pink has previously called the cops on us in imagined fits of pique. The cops and firefighters are uniformly on our side.

Jack.

The PC stuff is being concerned what the media is going to say. Why do we care? They hate us anyway.

If we had a hundred FReepers show up and peacefully counterprotest the leftists week after week, the Pinkos would likely be shamed out of continuing. There aren't enough FReepers showing up, but a very few FReepers now seem to advocate hitting people? It doesn't make sense.

Violence against peaceful protestors no matter how much you object to their message is immoral and illegal. Also, if we can't get enough people (i.e., as we would like to have) to show up now, does anyone think that violence would induce more people to come to a FReep?

You have NOT been advocating violence and I don't want to accuse any particular FReepers, but why would any FReeper want to do something so stupid as to advocate or commit violence? We are kicking Pinkos' tails peacefully, lawfully, and without interfering with their rights. We have completely blunted their messages and prevented them from succeeding in their fraudulent attempt to feign friendship with troops in attempts to "turn" troops against the war, the military, and the President.

When FReepers make foolish statements about committing violence, I have to wonder if they are not agent provocateurs of the left.

Brilliant! Here's the complete text:

Legionnaires Condemn War Protests, Pledge

HONOLULU, August 23, 2005 - Delegates to the nation’s largest wartime veterans organization meeting here in national convention today vowed to use whatever means necessary to ensure the united support of the American people for our troops and the global war on terrorism.

“Warriors, above all other people, pray for peace, for they must suffer and bear the deepest wounds and scars of war,” said Thomas P. Cadmus, national commander of The American Legion referring to Gen. Douglas MacArthur’s quote. “We had hoped that the lessons learned from the Vietnam War would be clear to our fellow citizens: public protests against the war here at home while our young men and women are in harm’s way on the other side of the globe only provide aid and comfort to our enemies. We understand that the terrorists they are engaging there would slit the throats of every American, adult and child, if they could.”

The resolution passed unanimously by 4,000 delegates to the annual event states: “The American Legion fully supports the President of the United States, the United States Congress and the men, women, and leadership of our armed forces as they are engaged in the global war on terrorism.”

“For many of us, the visions of Jane Fonda glibly spouting anti-American messages with the North Vietnamese and protestors denouncing our own forces four decades ago is forever etched in our memories,” Cadmus said. “We must never let that happen again. I assure you, The American Legion will stand against anyone and any group that would demoralize our troops, or worse, endanger their lives by encouraging terrorists to continue their cowardly attacks against freedom loving peoples.”

The measure recognizes that the global war on terrorism is as deadly as any war
in which the United States has been previously engaged and that the President and Congress did authorize military actions in both Afghanistan and Iraq.

“No one respects the right to protest more than one who has fought for it, but we hope that Americans will present their views in correspondence to their elected officials rather than by public media events guaranteed to be picked up and used as tools of encouragement by our enemies,“ Cadmus said. “It would be tragic if the freedoms our veterans fought so valiantly to protect would be used against their successors today as they battle terrorists bent on our destruction.

“Let’s not repeat the mistakes of our past,” he added. ”I urge all Americans to rally around our armed forces and remember our fellow Americans who were viciously murdered on Sept. 11, 2001. We must commit ourselves to stand united together to defeat terrorism once and forever.”

The 2.7 million-member American Legion is the nation’s largest veterans organization.

As a member of the American Legion, I fully endorse this.

Is this not what I have been saying all along tonight?

"My team name was Pod 6."

Another "Sealab 2021" fan, I see!

"George Bush rocks"

Could work, HGC.

How about "A Perfect Rovian Storm"?

It's un-officially Trademarked here, but I doubt there would be much trouble.

Jack.

See post #359, above, from the American Legion. It says, in part, "“No one respects the right to protest more than one who has fought for it, but we hope that Americans will present their views in correspondence to their elected officials rather than by public media events guaranteed to be picked up and used as tools of encouragement by our enemies... It would be tragic if the freedoms our veterans fought so valiantly to protect would be used against their successors today as they battle terrorists bent on our destruction."

The American Legion, the largest veteran's group in the country, recognizes the damage done by protesters in the media during Vietnam. That is why we are counterprotesting -- so that the actual passersby, and there are thousands every Friday night, will see that we are not letting their evil go unanswered. Nothing PC about it.

In many ways, you and I have been saying the same things tonight. Let me summarize it with this quotation:

"Speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far"

During TR's term as Governor of NY State he fought with the party bosses, particularly Boss Tom Platt regarding a political appointment. Roosevelt held out, although the boss threatened, to "ruin" him. In the end the boss gave in.

According to Nathan Miller in his book "Theodore Roosevelt, A Life", page 337,

"Looking back upon his handling of the incident, Roosevelt thought he 'never saw a bluff carried more resolutely through to the final limit.' And writing to a friend a few days later, he observed: 'I have always been fond of the West African proverb: "Speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far." ' "

The proverb and the policy followed him into numerous instances in his career, including his policies abroad during his presidency.

Do nothing of the sort. These are the last vestiges of Moore/Soros, and the decent left will reject them.

I know it makes the blood boil, but just remember: the despicable acts of the left is exactly what drives the honorable left more to the right.

You are advocating the aspect of speaking softly, and I have no problems with what you are recommending.

I was discussing the second aspect, the "Big Stick."

Together, this is a sound and proved tactic.

Today, in America, our enemies are terrified of a "big stick" being used against them. Study your enemy and use their weakness against them.

This is such a basic military tactic, that I am ashamed to even mention it.

Better that we protest against the protesters. We have driven a stake into their morale. When we were done with the Workers World Party, they lost 99% of their numbers and could NOT get a DC march going for the first and second anniversaries of the war.

It took time, but we did it.

These bastards are next.

My apologies, folks, if this really isn't as breaking as I initially thought.

No apologies necessary, jdm. Clearly, many knew nothing about this. Looks like posting it here has helped to shine the light on this debacle.

Bill...

Define "peaceful protest", will ya? Slander and Treason okay? What about sedition if nobody gets hurt? I guess that's acceptable because the lame-stream media preaches it everyday.

I suppose feces and urine toss at returning soldiers is just a sport to the lefties, so how should we be prepared if the situation calls for action, rather than words? You are preparing to fight with two sets of rules...the one that they use, and the one that will be used against you.

Doctor Raoul, you and all of the other DC Freepers have done an outstanding job!

There is absolutly nothing that I could recommend that would improve upon what you do.

Keep up the outstanding work and know that I have always respected you and the others.

There is no such thing as "honorable left".
