I am a Mexican American woman who would vote for Gilchrist if I was in California. Not only did I work with him in Arizona, I came down when ALL the fanfare was gone...the last week.
The thing that amazed me was that Jim was a true leader, the publicity had not gone to his head. He served the people who came down to the Arizona Minuteman Project. The sign of a true LEADER! He serves those he leads!!
I am a MEXICAN AMERICAN FOR GILCHRIST!!
(we the people will not tolerate bigotry in office)
Well it seems from your posts that we have to tolerate Stupidity on your behalf...WHAT's Worse??
Thank you for your work exposing the dangers and costs of illegal immigration. I'm sure that Mr. Gilchrist is a fine leader.
I'm opposed to his views on the Iraqi invasion and what is stated on his party's homepage opposing war. When our country is at war with troops deployed defending your freedom, they need all of our support that they can get. The battlefield is tough enough as it is. The media's opposition to war has ruined thousands of veterans from the Vietnam War. Since Jim is a Vietnam vet, he should know that!
I'm not stupid, I speak from scientific study.
The next time that you are in contact with Jim, ask him what it does to the mental state of our military and veterans when the media ruins our world!
We don't need another anti-war party in office!
The next time that you see Jim, ask him what the anti-war movement does to veterans who suffer from PTSD. The veterans have PTSD because they were traumatized defending your freedom. Jim is a Vietnam War veteran, he should be able to tell you all about it.
One write in candidate seems to have this idea that all Freepers live in the 48th district. That is all.
You are posting false information. The final filing date is September 20.
You still have not answered my question. Have you served in the military? I have. Someone has to do it you know.
Also, you seem very concerned! Why are you so afraid of my being in this election. Thanx for the confidence booster.
You don't seem to need 'confidence boosters'.
What you need is to actually be a candidate.
See you on the hustings...
Torie; Approximately 65% of the 48th District are Republicans. Former Congressman Cox received about 70% of the vote for re-election.
Mr. Gilchrist's party states that they have an anti-war platform on their homepage. We don't need anti-war activism serving in office. We need politicians who support our troops before, during, and after.
Ask Mr. Gilchrist what the anti-war movement does to veterans suffering from PTSD.
Did you serve in the military? I did.
The Constitution Party is 100% opposed to the war in Iraq. Here is part of their platform:
" In responding to terrorism, however, the United States must avoid acts of retaliation abroad which destroy innocent human lives, creating enmity toward the United States and its people; and
" In accord with the views of our Founding Fathers, we must disengage this nation from the international entanglements which generate foreign hatred of the United States, and are used as the excuse for terrorist attacks on America and its people.
"The 'war on terrorism" is not a proper excuse for perpetual U.S. occupation of foreign lands, military assaults on countries which have not injured us, or perpetual commitment of taxpayer dollars to finance foreign governments "
This matches anything that Cindy has said. No loyal, patriotic American during this time of war could possibly choose to run for Congress as the Constitution Party candidate.
Please warn the voters in that district about what Gilchrist really believes.
I know it can be tough to be fair and accurate, but you need to try a bit harder. I really can't approve of one pushing one's point of view, and competing against one's opponents, outside the arena of fair comment. Maybe that is just a character flaw on my part. One other thing: a "candidate" spending most of his time slapping up posts on FR is probably not making the best use of his time. JMO.
I'm not running for anything.
Jim Gilchrist served in Vietnam, winning the Purple Heart while trying to save a buddy.
You got one of them, sailor?
Oooohhh I hate the spell police... : ) <<< me
Hummm... Don't ya mean vigilante's?
I am very proud of my vigilante brother's and sister's.
I wish I could be a "vigilante"... : ) <<< me
WHAT exactly is your point about millitary experience? Are you saying John Kerry was more qualified to be President than George W. Bush because he "served" in a war?
Thanks for the ping, Dave.
Bookmarked for later response.
Thank so much for this very useful information regarding the true beliefs of the American Independent Party of California (Constitution Party). They almost remind me of Martin Sheen. The AIP's platform is far to passive with regards to the need to fight terrorism abroad and support our troops.
In addition, John Schmitz ran for their party for President in 1972. Schmitz was a vocal segregationist from Santa Ana. He is also the father of Mary Kay Letorneau the school teacher who had intercourse with her 12 year old student (spent time in prison and then recently married the former student).
President Bush undertook a tremendous amount of training to earn his wings and become a fighter pilot. He patrolled in the skies in the southern region of the U.S.
John Kerry is to also be commended for his courageous service in the Vietnam War. Jim Gilchrist is to be commended for his courageous service in the Vietnam War.
The point is that when Kerry and Gilchrist run for parties with an anti-war stance, it destroys the morale of our troops defending our freedom abroad. If you ever have a chance, ask Kerry and Gilchrist what the media's anti-war movement does to the mental state of veterans with PTSD.
So you don't have any military service? You need to pay respect to the few of us who do who take time off from their personal endeavors to defend your freedom and your freedom of speech. You talk tough here, but I encourage you to enlist into the military and get some experience under your belt- see the world. You might come up with another political perspective.
I am proud of one of my highest achievements in the military as a U.S. Navy gunner. I earned the "Southwest Asia Service Medal with Bronze Star." During the Persian Gulf war, our command searched Iraqi ships at sea which is no safe operation. I have experienced armed duty in Kuwait! As also a Surface Rescue Swimmer, I'm trained to rescue military aircraft crew at sea. I'm trained to defend a terrorist attack aboard ship. All of this could be quite hazardous if encountering a booby trapped vessel at sea, in port, or even a suicide bomber.
Mr. Jim Gilchrist is to be commended for his courageous service in the Vietnam War were he earned a Purple Heart. But I dencounce his running for a party with a 100% anti-war stance and thus the voters need to realize this.
If you ever have the opportunity, please ask Mr. Gilchrist what the media's anti-war stance does to the mental state of veterans suffering from PTSD.
Torie; I'm sorry that I don't have your respect. Ask your candidate what it does for the morale of our troops when he makes no mention of the war on his political homepage. If it is on there, I didn't notice.
I'm sorry that, in your opinion, I don't make good use of my time. Unfortunately, I'm just a humble poor farmboy trying to battle the cruel aristrocratic bureaucracy against all odds. At present, this is the only tool that I have.
It was a war in itself for me to just enlist into the military at the age of 33. You see, a number of years earlier, I was the victim of a severe truck accident- we drove into a telephone pole. It crushed my hand and broke my neck among many injuries. They took me into the operating room to amputate my hand. With God's help, a miracle resulted, and they were somehow able to save my hand without having to amputate (keeping in mind that I had a broken neck as well).
I saw the need to serve in the military for national security. In addition, I felt so much patriotism for my country, that I did whatever I could to enlist and pay my dues for my country. When I signed up, I humbly walked into the military doctor's office for my medical hoping that he would not rule me ineligible for my previous injuries. Fortunately due to my high level of overall fitness, I was able to pass the physical and squeeze into service.
The bottomline is that I'm used to fighting against all odds. I didn't have life handed to me on a silver platter.
