They just want something to carp about. No doubt many of those getaways are working vacations, and he is still on call 24/7.

He probably does more work no matter where he happens to be doing it than a lot of former (pick your party) presidents. The last one was working real hard in the Oval Office while he dallied with an intern with one hand and a phone in the other.

It's all hype and just another effort to reduce the public's confidence in Bush. I don't care where he spends his time, as long as he is briefed daily and takes whatever timeout is necessary to perform his duties.

Some of those reporters probably have deals with their employers that they can do much of their work at home or off-site on their computers. Freelance reporters work wherever and whenever they please. What's the dif so long as the work gets done?

But with the average American receiving just two weeks off a year, are the president's lengthy vacations justified?

I think the average executive gets more than a two-week vacation.

Ah, geez. I just read the entire ABC "article". They say their "experts" debate the "question". Experts!?!? Who are the experts they refer to? The liberal talk-radio host of Air America???

This whole piece is a joke. I tuned out MSM long ago. It's a bit of an eye-opener to see what they've become.

First, ABC uses the words EXPERTS and who the hell is an expert on what defines a vacation for a president.

Second, look at who these people are. The female is a talk show radio host for Air America. The only thing she's an expert is is being a liberal commie ranter who couldn't find a kind word for Republicans if she was brainwashed.
The guy is some conservative commentator that has worked for Bush's dad. At least he has some working knowledge of how the president works.

What's most interesting is that ABC goes with some left wing partisan as their expert. ABC again show just how out of touch they are.

Oh yes... this is an "ABC News Original Report". Is that same same original reports distribted from the Main Stream media's Automatic Truth Machine? This is a hit piece is for sure but there's certainly noting "original" about it. In fact it's standard boilerplate. The "Original Report" machine probably just took the usual article with (insert Republican here) or deleted Eisenhour, Nixon, Reagan or GHW Bush and inserted Dubya. I couldn't find a byline on this article. Did I miss it? I guess no one over at ABC had the stones to put their name on this red herring nonsense. Just another story from the great lie detecting truth machine over at the main stream media? I think not, just the usual pathetic cowards peddling bumper sticker talking points for the shallow elite and elite want-to-bes.

Now that you mentioned Frogs, the MSM has no problem with a certain senator who takes long vacations away from the hoi polloi and rarely shows up for work. The MSM hates the president because he doesn't vacation at any of the exclusive trendy-lefty hot spots they love. Crawford is just plain hot and there are no swank nightclubs and whores.

No abc news...he is not taking too much time off. You are idiots do you know that? The ranch is equipped to do anything he can do at the White House. How stupid are you to not know that in this day and age???

He's not lounging by a pool. He's working and...he took one week of to do some fun work around his ranch. He deserves that and he could run any one of you softies into the ground if you tried to do the physical work in the heat that this man does. Don't you guys at abc do anything in your lives but work? (and I use that term lightly). I doubt it. Do you call reading a monitor work? Do you call sitting at a desk with makeup applied and hair stylists and manicures and primping like some star studded fool and all the rest work?

It's YOU who do nothing while you claim to work. If you guys weren't filled with such venom you could get to know Bush and like him a lot. Your trouble is you need to do what the rest of the journalists do and attack the President for anything and everything. All becuase you have no personal courage to stand alone and write the truth. You and the rest of them are jealous that he doesn't kiss your lazy you know whats.

I bet you a dollar to a doughnut that if he really confided in one or two of you you would be falling all over yourselves because he singled you out as a friend. Th that would be a different story wouldn't it? You'd forget the rest of those in your field and soak it all up. You're not fooling anyone. You are just jealous becuase Dubya is his own man and he doesn't share every little thing with you and your ilk like some gossipy characters as yourselves. Always reporting on "he said this" and "he said that" etc. Like kindergarten kids in a classroom. You are actually worse cause you are supposed to be the grown ups but you act like kids.

The media is one of the biggest groups of losers besides hollywood that I have ever seen. You have been duped by this President so many times you can't even count 'em all. Maybe if you acted like a responsible journalist the President would have some respect for you but..you guys don't even have respect for yourselves when you sell your souls like you all have since President Bush took office.

The bottom line is this President is NOT clintin and he isn't starving for attention and the need to be liked. So, he will do what is right for our country and if you agree with him fine. If not, that's fine too. When YOU get to be as important as President Bush in the eyes of the world then perhaps someone of substance will listen to you once again. However, you journalists will NEVER EVER even come close to the importance of this very special President who will go down in history as one of our greatest if not our greatest. Your names will long be forgotten along with the rest of the dem/libs/lefties while this man's name will be honored throughout history and your ilk will have long since melted away. Too bad you don't choose the right side of the coin. You could actually prove you are a true journalist and perhaps make some history for yourselves. A turtle doens't get anywhere if he doesn't stick his head out of his shell. That's why none of the media will go anywhere.

If you want sensationalism...go find willie and see what he is up to these days. He's always good for a tabloid like story and he should keep you busy accomodating your needs so you can "look busy." He wants to be in the limelight and you guys need someone to write about...so, clintin is your man. No one asked you to go to Crawford anyway. You dont like it there it is too hot and too dry and you are far from the ranch anyway. So, what's the point? Go find willie and I'm sure you will be assigned a comfy spot in an air conditioned place and then all of you will be happy. Clintin cause you are there to photograph him and you all becuase you will have a willing volunteer. So, why live in misery? Go where you really want to be. You'll be happier.

As for me and mine: God Bless President George W. Bush!!

Another ABC News Report, from less than a year ago

Regional Leaders Encourage Teleworking, Tuesday October 12, 2004

Tysons Corner, Va. (AP) - Allowing people to work from home is a less expensive way to solve the region's traffic congestion than expanding highways and extending Metro, a group of government officials and business executives said Tuesday. [snip]

The annual State of the Commute Survey shows teleworking has increased from 290,000 workers to 320,000 since 2001, accounting for 12.8 percent of the region's work force, said Fairfax County (website - news) Board of Supervisors Chairman Gerald E Connolly. The Council of Governments set the goal of expanding that number to 20 percent of the work force.

1) Apparently,Clinton never took a vacation.

The first point is that Clinton so loved the trappings of being King at the White House that he chose to vacation there in government housing.

The other point is that Clinton didn't have a home to go home to that I recall. No ranch or other retreat that he bought and built with his own earnings.

But to the MSM, if you are on private property, you aren't working.

With gas prices looming at 3.00 per gal, iraq war, illegal immigration completely out of control, his poll numbers at an all time low, I would say the appearance of his vacation does not look good. We all know he can do his job from anywhere, but why give your opposition ammo? I have said, especially in the past few months, GW has let me down, and this just adds to my anger that he is giving our country away to his rich friends. I say get your backside to Washington GW and at least act like you are interested in doing your job.

Well trading American blood for OPEC oil is too high a price to pay in my book, Mike.
I fully support those who serve in our military, but I'd be much happier if we were more fully utilizing our own natural resources first: drilling offshore and in ANWR, building nuclear power plants and electric mass transit systems.
But those are obviously lower on the Lazy One's priority list, so I'm glad you can laugh about it while he takes his vacation.

I don't laugh at the situation. I laugh at you. And that Lazy One slam is straight out of the DU handbook that Pat Buchanan is beaming too you.

I am SO glad that ahole lost and will continue to lose.

so tell me this one Willie the Red, was the Iraq War for OIL????? Inquiring minds want to know (and zot).

ABC? Oh, yes! This is the network that sided with CAIR against a radio broadcaster who was speaking the truth. Right? Is there any reason we should pay ANY attention to ANYTHING ABC does other than "the Wives"?
