LIVE Report From Crawford (3,000 folks now and STILL COMING!)
Basil in Crawford | 8-27-05 | TxBubba

Posted on 08/27/2005 10:02:40 AM PDT by TXBubba

Just talked to Basil on site in Crawford, Texas. Currently there are about 100 folks there helping to set up. They have not received word about the caravan arrival in Waco yet. JimRob is riding with the caravan. She thinks it might get to Crawford around 1:00 p.m.

Basil says the stage is set up, the sound system is excellent and they have hung the most beautiful banners overnighted by W04Man on the stage. A big thanks for the banners, they are much appreciated!

Someone arrived early and hung yellow ribbons everywhere.

They have an American flag that is about 50 feet by 40 feet. Children of military personnel serving in the Middle East have written notes to their parents on the stripes of this flag. A very touching thing to behold.

The HOT Chapter booth is being unloaded right now. The will sell buttons made by Angelwood to help off set costs.

Someone rented the Community Center for our use so there is access to AC. However, they also have 10 tents set up. And there is a Moonwalk for the kiddos.

To top everything else there is BBQ on the grill! Basil is the official taster and says it is great!

That is all the news I have at the moment. It is hard to get a cell phone connection to Crawford but when I hear more I will try to update everyone.

Do you imagine Murdoch has anything to do with this?

Murdoch has never struck me as that right wing in the first place and certainly watching Sky News one would not readily realise they are out of the same stable as FNC. IMHO Murdoch just saw a niche in the market with FNC and if the powers at be at FNC think that there is a shift in opinion then they maybe what we are seeing on certain shows.

Joan Baez singing Amazing Grace is almost blasphemous.

There, it's fixed.

That FOX report was pitiful. They showed a long rant by sin-dy and then a short piece from our side without a crowd shot, and then back to sin-dy for another long rant. That's fair and balanced?

This photo slays me. Here is this beautiful wife and the children of a fallen hero, having to reclaim his honor and away from the dirtiness of the Sheehabis.

The country western singer's wife was interviewed

That was Shemane Nugent and Ted doesn't sing C&W. :)

Reason the MSMwhores didn't cover this event live was because the DNC had already given them their talking points....."Thousands Anti-war and Bush supporters converge in Crawford!" Actual live film would've shot them outta the water and the truth would have to be reported! This is probably the reason they decided to blackout any Rally coverage! Makes a lot of sense to me!

I have never heard a word about the condition of Cindy's mother. Are our media that "sensitive" and respecting of her privacy? Who knows. I just think that if she really had been sick and was either better or worse, it would have been newsworthy. The media silence makes me wonder if the story was bogus.

Veteran's sign says: "WWII Japan POW"

I bet half the people in Camp Cindy--probably two-thirds of them--don't know what that sign means.

"Well, if she keeps sayin' "he (Bush) wants troops to die in Iraq because troops have died in Iraq" the rest of the country has to scratch their head and say "wacko"."

Yup. It would seem they ought to be scratching by now. Reminds me of my favorite quote from Teresa Heinz Kerry. She said, and I quote, "A state isn't a whole state in the United States." Yeah, well sure, of course......

What the heck was she trying to say. That was about as good as her speech yesterday when she said to tell the Iraqi people there is another way to handle this and America has done enough damage to your country

Kelly did a very fair job reporting this. Showed lots of photo's of Pro Bush supporters and then the pathetic speech by Sheehan. She has probably forgotten what she is doing there. Kelly also said earlier that someone at camp Sheehag was holding a sign that said "Bush send the Girls"

Well, made it back from the rally and I feel great! What a wonderful way to spend a Saturday, with patriotic people, bar-b-que and watermellon! Got to meet some freepers, Eaker, Humblegunner and CenTexan, and others! Great people! Lots of out-of-state people there, talked to people from Kentucky, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Michigan, Ohio, to just name a few....makes my 40 mi. trip an easy one! Lots and lots of people there! If I was to give an estimate at the "You don't speak for me rally" I'd say a good 500 people by the time we left with more streaming in. That doesn't count the ones downtown or out at the camps. Took a few pictures at the Wal-Mart rally where the Move America Forward tour stopped to begin it's caravan to Crawford and a few at the rally:

Bassfire and Mr. Bassfire waiting for the "You Don't Speak for me" caravan at Wal-Mart in Waco.

They made it and it was a rousing start for the trip to Crawford!

Sign on one of the caravan cars.

If you can't read the red shirt it says "Your tropical retreat from the stress of Jihad..Rush Limbaugh.com"

Made it to the rally before the crowds got there! Nice sign lol...I think it says FreeRepublic.com at the bottom?

Pink sign says "America should stay in Iraq till the fat lady sings".. wonder which Democrat that would be? hmmm...

Part of the crowd, the ones brave enough to get out from under the shade! It was hot but worth it! Didn't venture over to the opponents side of town, so I'll leave that for someone else. Bassfire

WOW! The pic of the WW II POW is truly moving. God bless that man for what he's done for our country and for continuing to stand up for America. Thanks to you to, Leapfrog, for bringing this awesome pic to us.
