Jesse Jackson's traveling circus reportedly flew to Caracas yesterday for a grandstanding visit with Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez. The announced visit came in the wake of ill-considered remarks from televangelist Pat Robertson who declared that the U.S. ought to try to assassinate Chavez. Jackson went there to show Chavez he's a 'man of peace and goodwill' and probably wanted to curry favor with him, given the opportunity presented by Robertson. And what better way to look good for his U.S. domestic constituents than to be seen in an abrazo embrace with telegenic Hugo Chavez?
But a funny thing happened on the way to Caracas: Blood ran in the streets. A peaceful march of Venezuela's democratic opposition was ambushed by the Venezuelan dictator's goons. Demonstrating with a legal permit, these protestors, mostly women, had been seeking redress for political prisoners held in Chavez's dungeons.
The many photographs from the incident are bloody enough that Reuters calls it the most serious violence in months.
Given the timing, Jackson seems to have gone to Caracas to take a shot at Robertson over the 'assassination' remark, puff himself up in self-righteousness, and give Chavez a veneer of respectability. Amid all the tears and flapdoodle about sin and forgiveness, what Jackson neglected to consider is that Hugo Chavez is in fact a brutal dictator - and acts as one. While Jackson was cordially meeting Chavez, an attempted massacre was going on outside.
Is Jackson going to speak out about what happened on his own visit? Or is he going to be silent about Chavez and hope no one notices the blood in the street?
Jackson's got a public relations problem right now A big one.

What's in it for the race pimp?
Casstro is getting jealous of Rev Hymietown's new schoolgirl crush
I think he went there to take a shot at Robertson and Republicans in general. He wants to show Chavez that (unlike all those Republicans) he doesn't want to assassinate him. It's total baloney - he is trying to paint us with the 'assassin' brush, just as while he's back home, he accuses us of wanting to starve children if we don't vote for his race-pimp welfare programs.
Well, there is blood in the streets.
"Go Grey Davis . . . Yer blockin the cameras"
Oooo, thanks for the 'two-fer,' Jesse....
It was probably a training event for Jesse's goons.
Jessie's goons have already started training in Seattle.
Is he growing a moustache under his eyes now? How come his lower eyelids and upper lip look the same?
"Look, Chavez. You gave one million bucks to Al-Qaeda. You operating on my side of the hemisphere, and you don't give me a taste. Whuzzup wid dat?"
Anyone got pictures of the Chavez Rule of Law?

(note: I know that the original song really has nothing to do with the content of this parody, but it is the only song I found where "race-baiting poverty pimp" will fit. :)
Race-baiting poverty pimp
race-baiting poverty pimp
Reverend Jesse Jackson is a race-baiting poverty pimp
Where cameras roll, he's there to be found
His pearly whites seems are always around
It is time we say to him his message is gonna go down
Let's tell him we're rejecting those people dividing by race
Don't be afraid, we're stepping right up and slapping them in the face
His message has always been crystal clear
He's filling his people's heads with fear
He makes us fight among ourselves, it true
Jesse, it's time you are finally through
Jesse, it's time you are finally through
It's time to say to Jesse, that race-baiting poverty pimp
Your fifteen minutes came and went, and now you are looking quite limp
I've got a bumper sticker that's telling him "Run Jesse Run"
It's on the front, I'm warning him now, if I see him he is done
Of course I am kidding, but he is slime
Why would anybody send a dime
He's legendary as the shake down king
Where he appears, trouble he will bring
Where he appears, trouble he will bring
I'd love to see up skyward a wonderful colorful blimp
And read the words "Hey Jesse, you're a race-baiting poverty pimp"
The libs never met a thug they didn't love. If it were 1938 Jesse would be hugging Hitler.
Chavez threw Jackson some bait when he suggested that he would sell gasoline inexpensively to poor Americans.
IOW, is he going to show some common sense and decency for a change, or is Jackson going to act like Jackson?
Is this a trick question?
a VERY good point. I expect to see a connection soon.
What's in it for Jesse? Money of course. He's hoping he can win Chavez over to his side and possibly offer something to him, IF he wins in the next elections.
Jesse has consistently been paid by foreign powers to allegedly promote their interests in the US.
Ya know, one day Jesse is gonna poke his nose in something and get it cut off somewhere around the neck.
Jesse loves Castro, why wouldn't he love Chavez.
Je$$e wants the money up front.
I assume Jesse Hijackson gave Hugo a big kisssy to go along with the mutual abrazos. What a shameless publicity hound is this Hijackson.
Bush's fault (insert Jesse accent)
Jesse jumped the RAINBOW to PUSH for some of that cut rate priced gasoline ole H(Y)ugo offered the unwashed poor in America. (so he can resell it at market value)
Quick launch operation 700 Club...
That's Rem 700 club
Jackson's disgracing himself with this way worze than Roberetson did with his loose talk.
"NEW, SOPHISTICATED PROPAGANDA CAMPAIGN AIMED AT U.S.
...WHERE MARX MEETS FUNDAMENTALIST ISLAM"
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "A significant part of the groundwork for Chavez's propaganda offensive can be seen in the visit of Rev. Jessie Jackson's three-day visit to Venezuela in late August. At the end of his sojourn, Jackson publicly took issue with U.S. statements that the Chavez government is a source of "instability" in Latin America, and stated that he found "no evidence" to support U.S. concerns, and urged efforts "to reduce tensions."
With this declaration, one of the most prominent liberal activists in the U.S. sided with a foreign leader against the official policy of the United States. Rev. Jackson's statements would be read and considered by millions in the U.S., and Chavez could now claim that he and his government have support among some of the power elite in the U.S.
Rev. Jackson and his Rainbow Coalition organization are based in Chicago, which is becoming a center of pro-Chavez activity. Shortly following Rev. Jackson's Venezuelan trip, a last minute contribution from the government of Venezuela and the Venezuelan-controlled Citgo petroleum corporation, enabled Chicago's Puerto Rican Labor Day festival to take place. The City of Chicago and the County of Cook, where Chicago is located, has just concluded an agreement to use voting machines and election machine software produced by a firm with reportedly close connections to the Venezuelan government.
Chicago will also be the starting point on October 13, 2005 for the six-city tour of "Venezuela Matters," a group of "business leaders, musical artists, and academics" accompanied by "empowered Venezuelans" touting the wonders of the Marxist Chavez regime."

You're so right.
Back in 1979, when Jesse Jackson visited Cuba to brown-nose Castro, he went to a church service where Castro "prayed" with "Reverend" Jackson. The liberal press reported that such occasion was the first time that Castro had gone to church in several decades.
What the liberal press did not mention was that the regular parishioners had been run out of the church to allow Jackson and Castro to have their photo-op. The regular parishioners were forbidden from showing up to the service, and the seats were filled with Castro's atheist followers.
The whole Jackson-lead church "service" was a mockery to the faithful Christians who had resisted institutionalized persecution for decades both in Cuba and in other communist nations.
As Jewish comedian Jackie Mason says,
Mr. Jackson, who is a reverend without a church, a businessman without a job, and a shadow senator --- that's a senator without a state --- makes his living by taking bad situations and making them worse.
