Category 4 Hurricane Katrina is approaching landfall in Eastern Louisiana. At 4:00AM EDT the storm's center was about 90 miles south of New Orleans.

winds picking up here, we have dodged the bullet. Prayers for all those in Katrina's path
still a bad one, but it sure was nice to see that it has lost some of its organization.
You are doing a great job helping to create a very wonderful and educational thread here! You are helping to preserve history. It will help me teach my children about hurricanes and such (and I've learned a lot too!). Thanks so much - to everyone on the thread, too!!!
