Limos?
Yep, already noted many posts above.
No events scheduled there until December so the "Dome People" could have a good long stay.
Not natural disaster.
ref·u·gee One who flees in search of refuge, as in times of war, political oppression, or religious persecution.
The MSM knows that words mean things-- they want the US to look no better than a third world country in the eyes of the world. So the displaced are now "refugees", politically oppressed.
If I still lived in Houston I would be putting my house on the market ASAP !
Houston will never recover from this if those people are brought here and stay.
Well it's my state too (and before you ask we got here in 1832) and I say bring them in. My God, my upbringing and my southern hospitality demand it.
I will not tolerate trouble makers, but we are well able to sort them out.
Not them you see. That's why they could give a rat's ass.
that's easy for you to say. They get "sorted out" by getting arrested for committing crimes against people like me and my wife. This is my concern: my wife is in dental school, we live in student housing which is about 3 long blocks from the astrodome (we walk to the rodeo from our house). When I came home today I drove past a gas station that usually has 1 or 2 panhandlers on the corner. This time there had to be at least 30-40 people wandering around that street. I am scared to death for my wife, who rides the bus to the dental school every day. This is complete crap, whoever thought "hey lets move them from one dome to another" should have to move into the apartment next to ours.
After you have I'll listen to you a bit more. At least you can move if need be.
no i went to college so i wouldn't have to do any of that bull crap. i'm working my ass off to support my wife in dental school so we can live in a place where she can go to the grocery store at night without fear of getting robbed, raped, or murdered. i stand by my original post
25,000 plus is more than a few thousand and now they are our responsibility. You tell me how long 25,000 people living in an open dorm are going to be getting along even a week from now not to mention 4 months from now?
look, heres the thing. im just a little freaked out right now because theres over 20,000 homeless people living literally 2 blocks away from me. i never particularly liked new orleans, certainly would never choose to live there, but now it looks like the big easy has come to live with me.
I too went to college and if you think being in the armed forces is crap, then to hell with you. My family has always served so people like you can piss and moan. Even my dentist grandfather was in the Army and his dentist brother was a Marine.
Have a nice safe life, others will protect you.
I have no idea what will happen. I do know being a God fearing Christian, a southerner, and a Texan, I am forced to do my very best.
people like you dont protect me. you sit on your high horse spouting jingoistic crap about how youre better than people who didnt serve in the military or the police or whatever but all those people really do is react to the crimes that have already happened. why dont you come to my apartment and sit on the balcony with your AR-15 so none of the darkies attack me while i sleep?
Sicko
No you are doing nothing. They are going to the Astrodome not to your neighborhood. That is all this kid was worried about and he has a very good reason to worry. This many people should have been placed on military bases in ways for them to have a modicum of personal privacy and if need be supervision. I am telling you right now that we will have them leaving the Dome by the thousands and enjoying all of the delights that area has to offer.
My wife and I have spent the day working with FtBendISD, Rotary, and the Salvation Army to support this effort. Given that the "kid" says serving in the police and armed forces is "crap" I really don't have much more to say to him. Given he thinks people like me don't defend him, let him grow a pair and take care of himself.
The same could be said for those in NO right?
I have no idea what you are asking. If you mean should they defend themselves, damn right they should.
