The Federal Government is offering help to the victims of Hurricane Katrina, including medical supplies.

Deputy Prime Minister Anne McLellan says Canadian health authorities have offered to send emergency medical supplies from the country's emergency stockpile.

The Foreign Affairs Department is warning Canadians to avoid travel to the storm-ravaged regions.

There are no reports of any Canadian deaths along the Gulf Coast.

We can live without their condescending attitudes. Turn off all foreign aid to pay for our own reconstruction without rasing taxes or incurring debt.

Venezeula offered assistance to us. They should give us free gas.... they've certainly collected a lot of $$$ from us for many years... time for them to be truly charitable and give back.

McLellan or whatever her name is "advised all canadians
to avoid travelling to the gulf of mexico states".
Do ya think??
I was planning on taking my canoe down there and going
on a tour of new orleans with an AK-47 and lots of hambone.
Seriously though..........I would expect the Canadian
gov't to help in any way they can.
We canadians could stand for our lame gov't to "do the
right thing" as spike lee says and help out these unfortunate souls.
Idiot army engineers and city works didn't invest enough
money to make the levees withstand more than a category
3 hurricane. Should of coughed up the dough, taken lessons
from the dutch and you wouldn't have the widespread chaos
you have down there.
Best of Luck New Orleans.....All I have to worry about
up here is the coming winter and the french factor......I think I can handle it as I do every year.
How do I handle it.......drink alot of beer!!

Thank you Canada.

After a certain point it is cost prohibitive to plan for "worst case scenarios" so I wouldn't be too hard on the Corps of Engineers. Its a bit harder to be forgiving of the State and City government. They should have called for evacuations much sooner. That is what radar is for, eh? As far as Molson Canadian is concerned I only wish they sold it down here in the People's Republic of Kalifornia. Good to the last drop as I had it up in the frozen north. BTW, its not so much the Canadian people per se, as we well know there are plenty of fine conservatives up north, but if I hear another pin-head blaming this all on us not signing Kyoto, I'll puke. You Canadians keep your loonies up north and we'll take care of ourselves. No hard feelings whatsoever. All we need to do to pay for this is to quit sending our hard earned tax dollars overseas for foreign aid. That will pay for the whole deal without too much problem. Of course the dictators in Egypt, Pakistan and elsewhere may find their citizens get restless when they are not being bought off, but that is their problem, not ours.

Why turn down their help?

Because their offers are shallow. They do not shiv a git about helping us. The United States has spent trillions of dollars, all over the world. And no country has EVER helped the United States. In my opinion, I'd tell these people to phuk off and totally STOP any contributions to the Un or any other foreign subsidies that United States Taxpayers are funding.

REAL SIMPLE SOLUTION!

Then again, I'm just a simpleton.

And having those from other countries meet "real Americans" would probably give them a new perspective on the U.S..

Is that grape or lime KOOL-Aid you are drinking?

"Thank you Canada, you offer is very much appreciated."

You're welcome. Many of us conservatives can't stand our government in Ottawa and wish they wouldn't go around dissing the US. However, the sentiments of most of Canadians at the destruction caused by the hurricane are heartfelt and sincere. It's front page news for us, and we grieve for all those who have been hurt as if it had happened in our own country, just like we did after 9/11. If there's anything Canada can do, I hope we will find a way to do it. Certainly many people will be donating to 'Katrina relief' funds, and of course praying for the victims. Perhaps our oil and natural-gas rich province can ramp up supplies to the US to make up the deficits. Like many Americans, we feel so helpless watching the news and not being able to help. We're not out to gloat, but out to help. Hopefully we can do something constructive in the middle of this immense tragedy.

Shocked and disgusted?

Not me. It says more about the person posting, than about what is said. I presume you are refering to adverse comments. Again the offer is to those who have suffered. Taking my daughter and grand daughters over to Chippewa County, Michigan for the County Fair tommorow. Never had anything but a welcome in 40 years of going.

We are twin cities and each has helped the other during emergencies over the years. Perhaps I digress, but anyway, keep the faith.

Like we are repeatedly advised to do, they should send money.
