Same-sex marriage showdown in California

California state senators could vote today on a bill that makes same-sex marriage legal in the Golden State.

If approved, it would be the first time a state legislative body in the U.S. has voted to OK homosexual matrimony.

AB 849 deletes the phrase "a man and a woman" from California's marriage laws and replaces it with "two persons."

If it wins passage – and the vote is expected to be very close – the bill would then go to the state Assembly and ultimately to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

If this bill becomes law, I predict in no uncertain terms, a cataclysmic earthquake will completely destroy San Francisco. The reason I say this is God has given our public officials maximum grace in allowing them to see the effects of a "do your own thing" culture, and they have completely ignored all the warnings and signposts. I only see an escalation in natural disasters until they begin to pay attention. Katrina is a sign that God's longsuffering with this nation's backsliding is coming to a close.

Matthew 24:37 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

If my sense is any accurate at all . . .

IF the legislature votes for the homosexual marriage thing . . .

head for the hills, Californias.

Especially from San Fran south . . . where most of my loved ones live.

The doc leading this thread:

PROPHETIC EVENTS ON THE HORIZON [27 Proph Christian sources 1940-NOW]

is seeming more and more accurate by the hour.

God have mercy on our land. More, God draw all those who Love you intensely intimately to your side.

Lord, draw all the lost who have the least bit of a heart toward you into your Salvation through Your Blood, Lord Jesus.

IN Jesus' Name, Amen.

What about Prop. 22?

Unfortunately, the federal courts are looking to overturn the state amendments if they are worded in such a way as to be effective and actually have meaning. Liberals have figured out that even if they lose, they can win by redefining everything. They did it with abortion, insisting that a "health exception" be in all regulation, but then that exception must include the mental health of the mother, or in other words, if she wants to do it, it's legal. Same thing is happening with the gay marriage issue. If they don't win, they just get everything redefined in court. They may end up with marriage by another name -- which they will fight again another day -- but they will end up with all the benefits and recognition they want. This is what happens when judges are not kept in check.

Fat lot of good Prop 22 did you.

I'm not saying you shouldn't push for the amendment, I'm just saying that's not the end of the battle. If judges want gay marriage, we are going to have it. Period.

Yeah, let the senators usurp the will of The People. That's nice. And, dollars to donuts, the people of California will vote them back into office, too.

As soon as the people of California voted overwhelmingly to 1) clarify that marriage is only legal between a man and a woman, and 2) not recognize such "marriages" from other states, the legislature leapt into action to try to undermine the will of the people.

I always get the feeling Californians are schizophrenic--vote a certain way on propositions, while electing representatives who will overturn them.
