$0.40+ lower immediately. Alternatively or joointly, revisit that huge "internal improvements" Bill and defer stuff like paving West Virginia.

Bet you by Sunday this hypercritical posturing with the bodies of dead Americans as political props will magically vanish from the coverage.

I wish with all my being that I could agree with you on this point. However, since the Dims have proven Rush's point about "if you put a bag of excrement in front of them, they'll step in it", I think that's all we'll hear on the Sunday shows. It will intensify, not diminish.

How I'd love to be proven wrong, but I know these liberals like I know every square inch of my...well, never mind...

I've got a better idea. Stop all government funding on research on HIV/AIDS, and the "foreign aid" to Africa for HIV/AIDS. That alone should pay for the releif efforts along the gulf coast.

Good point. It was the bigotry reflected in her approach that tikked me off.
I think that's what offended me more than anything: she framed the problems of Iraq and New Orleans as an `either/or' matter (`Make a selection from column A or B'). And what's more, she was insistent about--an advocate.

I don't want a Chinese menu from a journalist. I want news. We want to know what the president thinks and plans to do. Miss Sawyer can vent her political views and prejudices at a cocktail party with Dowd, Krugman & Co., but otherwise, stuff a sock in it lefty hag.
(You can be sure someone at that party will say, "But she worked for a while for Nixon, so she has ultimate moral authority!"

"And I noticed there was no blame apportioned to the Crescent City or its feckless governor, `Huckleberry Hound')"

So true!
(BTW -- does that make the mayor of New Orleans "Babbalooey"?)

Diane Sawyer should arrested under martial law.

"`sallright?"
"`sallright"

The NO mayor reminds me more of that "Exit, stage left" character. 'Snagglepuss'?

Good morning America, how are you?

Speaking of Rush and the nutjobs, I haven't been to the Dem sites but apparently they are now saying Bush planned this so we could drill everywhere. If the Dem loonies are saying it, trust the Dems and MSM soon will be.

Dirty Diane is getting close to being replaced by the next mindless bimbo who looks pretty reading the news. She filled that position at one time but now she tries to show her liberal credentials to make up for her declining beauty.Diane shouldn't worry too much since liberal women who are involved in politics are some of the ugliest beasts in the world.

I liked that the president got a waiver for the blending of fuels yesterday. Removing all taxes would be the next thing I'd like to see happen.

If there are taxes that need to be cut, then it needs to be the income tax. That's the most destructive tax around. All tax-cut pressure should be focused there.

I didn't know anything about New Orleans's geography, except that it was on the Mississippi and that bodies needed to be buried above ground.

We all know that city building codes often require fire escapes so residents can escape danger.

Why didn't New Orleans city codes require lifeboats so residents could escape danger?

Why weren't the environmentalists screaming about this?

Why wasn't Dan Rather investigating the dangerous situation in New Orleans, rather than investigating Bush's National Guard service?

Taxes on gasoline directly concerns the current situation. That is where my focus will only be at this time.

perhaps later given the strain on households this winter I'll turn attention to the idea taxes in other areas should be suspended to provide relief from the increase in energy prices.

The reality is that all taxes affect the situation one way or another. In fact, lowering gas taxes probably won't even lower gas prices that much if there's a scarcity of refined gasoline. The laws of supply and demand would very likely make up the difference.

You're right! I was waiting for the enviornmental wackos to complain, but I think THEY are even too smart to do that. By doing this, the refinery process will be faster...which is the reason we have the gas problem right now. Bush has been saying for years that we needed an energy plan that would increase our refinery capablities..and WHO stood in the way? How long did it take for Bush to even GET an energy policy? Let's see...wasn't it JUST signed after YEARS being held up by the Dems?

"Why doesn't Diane ask the Mayor of New Orleans or the Governor of Louisiana some tough questions?"

Excellent point!

Dianne is irrelevant, and the MSM in general is shakin' in their boots with the fear that they too soon will also be relegated to the dustbin of history.

"Does anyone seriously believe we can't handle the Iraq war and a hurricane?"

YOu make a great point..and it illustrates a basic difference between liberals and conservatives on so many levels. Just as liberals look at our economy as a single pie that has a finite amount of money that must be "redistributed," and can never grow, they look at our national will as finite and weak. They wring their hands rather than rolling up their hands and getting to work. They ignore not only the abilities of our forces, but also the volunteers in this country.
Is it a monumental job? Absolutely. THey should shut up and get out of the way if they can't do something constructive.
