Ten Year Old Arrested for Giving Food to Terri Schiavo Apologizes

Joshua's arrestTAMPA BAY, August 31, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Ten year-old Joshua Heldreth, the eldest of eight children, was arrested on Good Friday of this year for trespassing while attempting to bring a drink of water to Miss Terri Schaivo.  Days later Schiavo died of intentional dehydration.  In court Joshua pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 25 hours of community service and ordered to write an apology for his actions.

The boy whose arrest photo was splashed on front pages of newspapers across the nation wrote in his apology letter, "I was arrested on Good Friday for trespassing on the hospice center's property . . . Not giving Mrs. Shiavo (sic) food or water was wrong.  The reason I had to go on your property was because Jesus would do the same thing.  It made me sad that she was so thirsty and it made Jesus sad too.  I knew she would die without water and I am called by Jesus to be a defender of the defenceless.  So I had to go on your property to try to bring her a drink."

Joshua added, "I am sorry that you didn't like that and wouldn't allow me to help save her life and one day you will have to tell God why.  I won't be able to help you then like I tried to help her. I will pray for you every day . . ."

LifeSiteNews.com caught up with Joshua's father Scott Heldreth today.  Scott told LifeSiteNews.com he is very proud of his son.  "My son has amazed me through this whole thing," said Heldreth.  The proud father said it was his son's own initiative to attempt to give the starving woman a glass of water, and despite the warning of his parents that he'd be arrested, the boy insisted.  "He was the one who begged us to go down, because he wanted to give her a glass of water . . . We explained that police will never let you help . . . you'll be arrested, but he went anyways."

Pro-life leader Rev. Flip Benham of Operation Save America told LifeSiteNews.com that the whole pro-life movement shares Heldreth's pride in his son.  Benham recalls the reaction of Heldreth on Good Friday as he watched his son being arrested: "When that all took place Scott was weeping, this father was weeping tears of joy seeing his son not only talk the Christian talk but walk the walk."

While the apology letter has been submitted, Heldreth told LifeSiteNews.com he's not completely sure it will be accepted.

"In essence, he tells the judge 'You're out of order! You're out of order! The whole trial is out of order!'"

Exactly. That judge was an idiot for sentencing the kid to write an apology. He is supposed to apologize for trying to save someones life? That is so twilight zone weird the judge needs his head examined. Honestly how retarded can you get?

He should have left it at community service. If he had this wouldn't have even made the paper. Now everyone knows what a moron the judge is.

FLORIDA IS ON THE SIDE OF THE CULTURE OF DEATH. Charlie rist, Judge James Whittemore, Senator Jim King, Judge George Greer, LE and former Sheriff Rice who resigned as Sheriff to become a House member so he could vote to KILL TERRI. He's given MICHAEL SCHIAVO a job at the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office. CONNECTED, HINO IS CONNECTED and Terri was murdered.

Can't vote for TOM LEE for CFO because as Senate President, he was unable to get these GOP killers to vote for Terri's life.

Zogby poll: IN FAVOR OF TERRI'S LIFE 79%. FREE REPUBLIC POLL: IN FAVOR OF TERRI'S LIFE 87%.

That's not what we were talking about. The question was whether the majority of Americans consider Judge Greer to be a criminal.

Clearly, they do not.

If you get off on torturing and murdering disabled people, you'll really enjoy this.

Only someone seriously sick and twisted would take pleasure in that.

"Way to exploit a child for a political cause - what a wonderful father...."

According to the article the father warned his son he would be arrested but the son decided to do it anyway. You think he is a lier?

Sounds like corruption to me. The US attorney in Tampa needs to investigate.

The majority of Americans agree that murder is illegal.
The majority of Americans agree that Terri was murdered.

Judge Greer is a criminal. You keep changing the topic slightly but that won't work. www.judgegeorgegreer.com

"The law of the case is that she will die."

That is and was B.S. It is judicial tyranny. If he didn't have such powerful friends, Terri would still be alive.

It is unprecedented to kill a disabled person with a death order. You don't understand. THIS IS WHAT ADOLPH HITLER'S T-4 PROGRAM WAS ABOUT. (listen to the audio of Terri.) over and out.

You'd be amazed, and disgusted at some of the sick jokes people make about that video. Until I became involved with Terri, I didn't realize how strong the hatred is toward disabled people. There are some sick puppies out there, and some of them actually show up here.

As has been demonstrated to you many, many times on the Terri threads, the judges involved in the case followed the letter of the law.

Right, and so did Hitler and his gang of murderers. That didn't make it right. The question is always one of morality. Administering unjust and barbaric laws doesn't make one just, or moral.

Let it go.

Yep, just let it go. Like I suppose we should "let go" of prior injustices that have cost the blood of untold millions. As soon as you willingly execute one innocent person in the name of "the law", someone who has committed no crime, who stands absolutely innocent of any crime before the bar of justice and in the eyes of God, you have opened the door to a potential holocaust. Because then you no longer have a system of justice, only one of process, a machine that grinds on to serve only the needs and whims of those who have their hands on the throttle, and woe be to any who fall under it's wheels.

A "no apology" apology, which is exactly what the hospice thugs deserved.

As has been demonstrated to you repeatedly, Judge Greer broke many laws in his pursuit of Terri's murder. A corrupt system is not the same thing as the law.

"He wanted to dump a glass of water down the throat of a woman in a years long coma."
Yeah! Does anyone else here realize that if this boy was allowed to actually give Terri that drink, he would have drowned her, she couldn't swallow it?

Nevermind that it would have been a far more humane death than the one the wonderful State of Florida gave the poor woman.

The kid ultimately would have been responsible for her death, and thankfully he was stopped to prevent that from happening.

It is a shame that this whole unfortunate situation was allowed to happen. It was totally wrong that Ms. Schiavo was killed (yes killed) in such a cruel and inhumane way.

Nobody in Florida will investigate this. This is the old south and a perfect place for Atty Felos to start his "social revolution" of taking people's funds by court order and then having them killed by court order. He sure found a great state and plenty of death culturists to give him comfort and aid.

I hate to bust your bubble, but it's worse than you think. You seem to be under the impression that he and many others oppose us because they just don't know the facts. It's worse than that. They do know the facts. They know Terri was murdered.

"He wanted to dump a glass of water down the throat of a woman in a years long coma."

Interesting choice of words. I can believe that a 10 year old, perhaps not fully understanding the nature of a coma, would want to offer a glass of water to a woman who was dying of thirst.

I can believe that a 10 year old would have the ability to express himself as well as he did, assuming he wrote that letter himself. Perhaps not the work of a literary prodigy, but those certainly could be his words and sentiments. And I do agree with his notions about "what would Jesus do?" in that situation.

I disagree with you about it being ham-handed. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, if he truly believes, then his actions were correct. Good parenting would support acting on one's beliefs. Besides, I doubt that a 10 year old has much to fear from a court system, especially considering the action he wanted to take.

BB, That's why Terri threads still have TROLLS. They are trying to convince people that this was not MURDER. Well, she was robbed and murdered. Evil will be plantings lies as long as we keep telling the truth. I'm not leaving.
