that = it [as you said] is very, very good food for thought
Does anyone have a new scanner link? National Guard is very quiet....may be a good thing.
New Thread! wow...we talk too much! (grinning)
not a word of criticism. the only people I heard who have pointed a finger at her, are thd DoD spokesman and the general at the Chertoff press conference who plainly spoke that she is responsible for preserving civil order.
WHO'S WATCHING ANDERSON COOPER RIP APART MARY LANDREUX
Sigh. . . I'm not cold and heartless. I was in line at a store today and the woman behind me was buying relief supplies and I gave her some money to help with her purchase.
But I'm not naive, either.
Well, there's our confirmation on the long-mentioned floating bodies. Not a happy confirmation, but better to know for sure anyway that these reports were for real, so we can stop arguing.
I would love to hear from a soldier that had been in IRAQ who has had to enter NO to compare the danger, etc.
Anderson Coooper grilling that mary chick saying a body was being eaten by rats because it has been laying there for 48 hours.
Yeah, that's been angering me. Too many are seeing some black people loot and deciding that all of them are the same. Hell, we have some on here blaming ALL black people for a few's actions. There are always some who cause problems.
These people are not refugees as if from some undeveloped nation. These are Americans, our family, our friends, our neighbors and they need our help.
continuous Katrina coverage..
I tried a time or two, to ask us to consider that the lurid images are NOT representative of the vast majority, of all races that are in the shit together. And working the best they can to help each other. I garontee, when the whole story is written, we are going to see stories of heroic action and sacrifice.
Glad to hear you have made it so far. Where are you, if you care to tell.
Am I dreaming??
Is Cooper actually GRILLING Mary L.?
I am going back to the first ground rules suggested by nautinurse about a bazillion posts on a 12 threads ago about keeping graphics down. We covered this dialup exchange about 6 to 8 hours ago this morning, as well.
Yes I just turned it on
yeah, he's taking her to task a little.
he ought to tell Landrieu point blank - call the governor and ask her to restore civil order.
When I first saw the headline I thought that it said SOB Nagin call.
Now I fully understand why Martin Luther preferred tyranny to insurrecton.
Just heard a PR guy for the NO Saints that is here in the Dallas area...
He is going to San Antonio for a meeting tomorrow with all of the Saints people, in order to figure out what they will do...supposedly James Carville pleaded with them NOT to stop the season, and told them that the people of NO needed the games...
Also, they don't know yet where they will play their games...
The same station (sports) said that the Hornets are considering not having their team play at all this next season.(rumor)
Anderson Cooper is tearing Gov. Landrieu a new one on CNN.
"No one taking responsibility... when you politicans pat each other on the back and compliment each other, it angers people because I just saw a dead body being gnawed on by rats over there, there is no help here..."
Did any of you hear anything about a sex offender being arrested at the dome? I just read an email which said that.
Boy do you have that right. It seems like the Mayor was afraid to do anything because of the fear that he had no Authority and Blanco has no knowledge what to do and no guts or savvy to do anything. They hire their cronies that don't know anything and are worthless in a crisis and you have a mess. The Mayor looks and sounds nuts now, he went from Zombie to loonie. I might have flipped out also had I hesitated like he did and obviously caused a lot more people to die that should have been evacuated. He may have been given bad info, maybe by Blanco. They should have been one thought and then acted when GWB and the NHC guy told them to evacuate. It is very sad.
They are taking refuge from the effects of the storm. I don't have a problem using the term.
Yep, he seems actually pissed.
You know, the NOLA people said 25,000 would need evacuation, then 100,000 yesterday, then 250,000 today.
How can that be all of Bush's fault?
The best good deeds go untold.. :)
Senator Landrieu. the governor is Blanco.
If you missed it up thread, there have already been two arrests in the Astrodome - guys visiting the womens' shower.
My husband just called on his way home from work.
He works at the old Kelly Air Force base. San Antonio is expecting 25,000 refugees. Husband says that he could not get down the road from the wharehouse he works in .. there are tons of trucks with equipment to set up the temporary housing. LOTS of porta potties.. and at least 8 flat bed tractor trailers full of bundles of supplies. He can't believe the amount of action that has ensued since late this morning.
One thing for sure - the area he's working in is generally VERY empty - basically just the workers in the wharehouse facility he is in... so it looks like they'll be getting neighbors.. VERY soon. The news said that San Antonio may start receiving some refugees tonight.
They are there, or on the way - 30,000 National Guard from several States, and a brigade of 3,000 from the 82nd Airborne, inbound.
Yes I did. Thank you so much.
I registered and made a post. It's on the second page already. 9 views/no replies so far.
The SAINTS are playing the Raiders tonight...they chartered two jets to leave town last week, and tooks all their computers and pertinent files, knowing they would not be back. I know a Saints coach.
Thanks, that's what I meant. Typing too fast for the brain.
Loving this! And she was a prime example of Democratic lip service and failure to see the real picture. Maybe she took lessons form Jesse Jackson?
Sometimes silence is best.
And no you are not cold and heartless.
And they took all the families with them...forgot to add that.
Soldiers of fortune advertising on eBay. Nothing surprises me anymore. Thanks for that one!
If you look carefully, the vast majority of these women with children appear to be alone. A few have husbands, and I've seen a few men holding babies, but for the most part you see a couple of women together with multiple children. This isn't a suprise, because the welfare state we have created nation-wide encourages the breakup of the family.
In the article last night on Drudge about the chaos inside the dome, it talked about crack cocaine vials in the trash, blood on the walls, etc.. and talked about the murders and rapes inside the dome.... specifically mentioned one woman with 11 children who couldn't sleep for fear one of the so-called thugs would rape one of her "babies." The youngest rape victim (reported) was four years old.
This is why I think splitting them up -- OR -- if they were really organized and had time you would send single women and children to one location, single men to another and couples to another.
I like it
Funny how much people like you are willing to do for Iraqis.
True, but that was only said in self defense.
I turned it off when he said she was next -- do you have a synopsis???
That crazy woman along with the useless governor were as late as Monday trying to tell people that the water was safe, "It's just water". Just insane.
