Read the article below from AP. Fed. response was immediate and timely - within 24 hrs., contrary to recent revisionism:

As dawn broke on the day after Hurricane Katrina's landfall, emergency officials in the Gulf Coast states faced the sobering reality of the storm's devastation. With confirmed deaths now past 50, Mississippi's governor warned that the toll in one county alone could rise to 80.
The death toll soared with the grim discovery of numerous bodies in the remains of a Biloxi, Mississippi, apartment complex. Authorities said the count of lives lost is certain to rise as rescue workers reach victims in other flood-ravaged neighborhoods.
Even with Katrina swirling away to the north as a tropical storm, two different levee breaches in New Orleans sent a churning sea of water coursing through city streets.
"The hurricane was scary," Scott Radish told The Times-Picayune. "All the tree branches fell, but the building stood. I thought I was doing good. Then I noticed my Jeep was under water."
Across the Gulf Coast, boats rescued people clinging to rooftops, hundreds of trees were uprooted and sailboats were flung about like toys after Katrina crashed ashore yesterday in what could become the most expensive storm in U.S. history.
The federal government began rushing baby formula, communications equipment, generators, water and ice into hard-hit areas of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama, along with doctors, nurses and first-aid supplies.
The U.S. Defense Department sent experts to help with search-and-rescue operations.
"We pray that the loss of life is very limited, but we fear that is not the case," Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco said.
New Orleans, relieved to have missed the brunt of the killer hurricane, found itself dealing with a second, creeping disaster on the day after the storm.
Also is there any truth to what the mayor said that the CIA might take him out for saying the things he said?
Were you really that offended?

You know...... if a person really had the tin foil on tight.... he might think that someone somewhere in the government said "let's wait 72 hours before sending in the military, study what happens so we'll be prepared in case of severe Al Queda attack, document it etc, study how the people react, let the press show a segment of society that the Regan democrats will reject, and then move in take care of things."

It was an especially nice touch when these two simpletons began "talking tough" Thursday about the slow federal response. Guess they finally got their talking points from the mother ship.
That idiot mayor mumbled something to the effect: "They better get off of their damned asses.". Yeah, I guess the Federal Government had to "get off it's ass" because the incompetent Democrat Mayor never got off his ass even though he had several days to do so (apparently having a difficult time thinking about what to do), and the incompetent Democrat Governor never got off her ass(apparently too busy hiding under her desk, crying).
Democrats are plainly too stupid, ignorant, and incompetent to be left in charge of anything of importance.
I'm sorry, you must have missed Wexler (Florida) who stated that reaction to this disaster by this adminstration was a discrase...
I was surfing the message boards over at the Showtime website and they are beating the hell out of the President. If there was any logic to any of the criticism, I'd respect it a bit. But its so far insane that I can't believe people actually have the kahunas to show how stupid they are. Stupid is as stupid does, I guess.
Part of the problem is that a lot of time, personnel and equipment had to have been used for rescue as opposed to delivering supplies. If the state and locals had done a better job of getting folks out who were otherwise unable to leave, and if folks who were able to leave had been smart enough to do it then the supplies might have been delivered quicker.
"I was surprised today that the dem response to the president's televised message was positive. Not a disparaging word. They must have a clue that their blaming could boomerang."
You have to figure that some of the more astute politicians among them may have gotten a clue. I haven't heard a peep from the usual suspects like Kennedy, Kerry, Schumer, not even Hitlery Clinton.
But never fear. When they sense that the time is right, they will resume their backstabbing and Bush-bashing.
I think it would be nice if you put an official picture of yourself on your about page to deflect anyone who might think you are not a freeper.
Awesome screen name! She is my favorite author!
I was watching Pride and Prejudice when I registered.

Tisk, tisk. You're trying to inject FACTS into a universe of hatred where none are allowed. The USNS Mercy is also being deployed, FWIW. She's got to come through Panama from San Diego so it's unclear when she'll be able to arrive on site.
You're right. It's dawning on them that blacklashes come in many forms...
