Don't bother, some on FR have displayed utter ignorance, bigotry, and crassness.

Honestly,
I've been watching TV all day, and I sense (I could be wrong) that if things keep going well like they are, it could be in his favor.

ESPECIALLY if it's point out (over and over and over) that the Dem Mayor and Gov majorly dropped the ball.

I'm rather calm about it (OK, so maybe the ice cream 5 minutes ago helped).

I understood what you were saying, but that is like asking that question of 9/11. Did you do that then?

SOME of them may have died , but a lack of medicine for diabetics, antibiotics for the infected, O2 for the resp patients surely hurried it along.

There are still people in their home trapped in their attics . If we do not get them today most will die.

I find the indifference to the suffering of those people ( and having to live for 3 days with dead bodies and no food or water) shocking.

This even has shown a HUGE hole in our government readiness.

It has also shown me a huge hole in the heart of people that say they are "pro life" conservatives.

This is NOT about Bushes numbers or the liberal press, this is about human suffering , fellow countrymen in pain and a government that had sufficient time to prepare for this and did not.

When the inhabitants shoot at military helicopters trying to rescue their fellow New Orleansians, and busy themselves in looting and rape and pillage of the unfortunate, instead of trying to aid suffering, yeah one can become real indifferent to the suffering real quick. The N O police dept cowered and ran, the hapless mayor has hundreds of flooded school buses going nowhere that could have been used to evacuate thousands, and he has the colossal nerve to blame the feds for his own inept blundering. Then the African American spokesmen get on TV and nonstop political ranting against Washington, while casting a blind eye to the failings and viciousness plundering, rape and pillage spawned by their own community. And we are supposed to feel sorry for the mess they made. Contrast that to the people of the great states of Mississippi and Alabama who took their considerably greater licking from Katrina with grit and dignity! And didnt spend their time crying like spoiled brats over largess from uncle sugar....

And Bush did what about this all as the CHIEF LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER IN THE LAND AND THE COMMANDER IN CHIEF OF THE ARMED FORCES?

Harry Truman said the buck stops here.

Bush wanted to be the president and he was elected.. yes this NATIONAL emergency response falls on him .

No one excuses the Mayor or the Governor , but Bush does not get a pass either.

THREE days before SOME of the refugees got water or food . THREE DAYS

There is not on excuse for that .

Nurses trapped in Hospitals were giving themselves IVs so they did not dehydrate.

The President had the POWER to send out food drops immediately he did not.

Agreed, Bush was way toooo slow in securing the area and should have declared Martial Law in the whole of the stricken ed area immediately. Martial Law for large disasters should be SOP because you know there will be morons looting and taking advantage of the situation. I would have dropped Navy Seals, delta force commandos and Army Rangers into NOLA with shoot to kill orders immediately upon the first sign of lawlessness. Vermin clutching stolen merchandise should be dropped in their tracks by aimed military rifle fire and left to rot as a message to other potentialy lawless element. You only have to do it a few times before the idiots get the message..... He is not the greatest pres but due to the dismal state of both parties especially the demonrats, looks like we are stuck with that kind of timid leadership. A real hard assed no nonsense leader cannot be elected because of the sorry state of your fellow citizens dependence on uncle sugars largess.

"I've stopped watching it. I've been about as impressed as I'm gonna get for this "crisis." FOX News Channel has lost it and is out of control. That leaves me without a reliable news source other than Free Republic."

You hit the nail on the head. I gave up on Fox and the TV coverage last Thursday. Outside of the Brit Hume show, I don't watch Fox as I'm sick of the rest. They have been particularly disgusting in covering the NO crap.

You said: 9/11 pictures ENFORCE Bush. Katrina pictures have the opposite effect.
Thats right. The entire tragedy is all about Bush. Those people dying are doing it to hurt bush.

The baby I saw dying in his mothers arms yesterday was intent an slandering poor Bush . Poor Bush the liberals planned this entire tragedy just to affect his numbers.

What a cruel thing they are doing to Bush with their dying and suffering .

What the hell is the matter with people ? There is a human tragedy happening before our eyes and all you Bushbots can think about is the Presidents numbers.

God help you
***
You have it right, almost. The suffering is real, and tragic. If the MSM was reporting that, it would make sense. Instead, what we are seeing is the MSM using the tragic news and images as a means of attacking Bush. It is not all about Bush, but the MSM is trying to make it that way. That is why you are seeing the posts you are seeing. No one can deny that this was a horrible tragedy. You would have heard little or nothing, at least at this stage, of the NO mayor and LA governor's lack of responsiveness if they had not attempted to lay the blame at Bush's feet (and wrongfully, at that).

Our family, and that of many Freepers, has given blood, money and relief goods to help. I wonder how much CNN and MSNBC have given-- and I don't count throwing a fundraising bash as giving. How many evacuees did CNN give drink and food, or a ride out of the area? What could they have done that they did not do? They could have surrendered stories in order to help. In fact, we should be OUTRAGED at CNN et al for standing there and reporting on people that AT THAT VERY MOMENT they could have been helping, whose lives could perhaps have been saved!!! Sadly, there is no media to report on the media....

Where in the flood waters should Bush have dropped the food?
